Core Video Editing Skills

• Editing software proficiency

  – Mastery in tools like Adobe Premiere Pro, After effects

• Cutting and pacing

  – Understanding rhythm, timing, and flow to retain viewer attention.

• Transitions & effects

  – Using modern, trendy transitions and effects (like zooms, wipes, motion graphics) without overdoing it.

• Sound design

  – Syncing audio, enhanced with background music, sound effects, and voiceovers.

Platform-Specific Knowledge

• Short-form video trends

  – Knowing what works on Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts—hooks, captions, jump cuts, music trends, etc.

• Aspect ratios & specs

  – Editing for vertical (9:16), square (1:1), and landscape (16:9) formats depending on platform.

• Content repurposing

  – Recutting long-form content into multiple bite-sized videos for different platforms.

• Thumbnail & cover design

  – Creating eye-catching static covers or opening frames that boost CTR.

Creative & Strategic Thinking

• Storytelling

  – Building a narrative arc, even in a 15-second video, to drive engagement or emotion.

• Hook creation

  – Starting strong in the first 3 seconds to stop the scroll.

• Brand consistency

  – Keeping color palettes, fonts, and voice consistent with the client’s brand.

• Understanding performance goals

  – Knowing whether the video is aimed at engagement, conversions, or awareness—and editing accordingly

Additional Technical Skills (Optional)

• Motion graphics

  – Creating animated text, lower thirds, logo stings using After Effects or similar tools.

• Subtitling & captioning

  – Adding attention-grabbing subtitles that are well-synced and stylistically branded.

• Green screen & keying

  – For more advanced edits, being able to cleanly replace backgrounds.

• File compression & export settings

  – Optimizing quality without increasing upload times or file size issues.

Collaboration & Workflow

• Feedback incorporation

  – Quickly iterating based on team or client feedback.

• Fast turnaround

  – Working on tight deadlines with agility.

• Cloud collaboration tools

  – Using Frame.io, Google Drive, or Jira to collaborate with teams or clients.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

•  2+ years of experience in video editing, preferably in a marketing agency or production house
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Premiere Pro and After Effects
• Strong understanding of video editing principles, including pacing, timing, and storytelling
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and meet project timelines
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Bachelor's degree in Film, Video Production, or a related field
