Key Responsibilities of an ETL Tester
Test Planning and Execution
Develop and execute comprehensive test plans test cases and test scripts for ETL processes ensuring thorough coverage of data validation and transformation logic
Data Validation
Verify the accuracy completeness and consistency of data throughout the ETL pipeline from source systems to target databases
Defect Management
Identify document and report data quality issues inconsistencies and defects working with developers to resolve them
Collaboration
Collaborate with ETL developers data analysts and business stakeholders to understand requirements troubleshoot issues and ensure data quality
Documentation
Create and maintain detailed test documentation including test plans test cases and test results for audit and future reference
Performance Testing
Evaluate the performance of ETL processes identifying bottlenecks and areas for optimization
Automation
Develop and implement automated test scripts to improve testing efficiency and coverage especially for regression testing
Essential Technical Skills
SQL
Strong proficiency in writing and executing complex SQL queries for data validation and analysis
