Project description Sr. Telecommunication Consultant role is a key position within the Optum Technology IT Group. The Telecommunication Consultant functions as a project team member within the Real Estate Voice Services Group. This position leads Real Estate Voice Services related projects across all Optum and UnitedHealth Group. Responsibilities
Overall accountability for project execution for assigned projects within the Optum Technology IT Group for Real Estate Voice Services. Drive deliverables to meet project deadlines / milestones. Track and update project plans and documentation. Identify and report issues with the project. Mitigate identified issues. Engage resources (management, service vendors, business segment leads, etc.) for project assignments. Single point of contact for all project IT vendors/providers. Determine requirements through interface with customer, corporate real estate and adherence to corporate standards. Create and submit engagement documentation for voice/data network, cabling, and server infrastructure. Interface with construction trades as necessary to ensure MDF/IDF construction to UHG design standards. Document weekly status reports including project progress, key milestones, and tasks accomplished, etc. Host weekly status call with project team. Work within Optum Technology IT Group processes f
Skills Must have 5+ years of experience managing network infrastructure projects, including global teams. 5+ years of technical project management experience focused on implementations with medium to high level of complexity. 5+years of experience of general project management metrics across scope, schedule and budget. 2+ years of experience of general project management in a corporate environment. 2+years working in real estate facilities, construction, or related environment. Knowledge of blueprint and construction documents including as-builds plans, construction schedule and terminology. Knowledge of Network Hardware and equipmentphysical devices and infrastructure needed for communication and data transfer between devices on a network. These include routers, switches, firewalls, access points, and more Knowledge of cabling standards, particularly those from BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Service International), understand the guidelines for installing telecommunications and ICT cabling, including practices for cable pathways and supports, cable termination, cable testing and certification, labeling and documentation, grounding and bonding Have a solid understanding of delivery methodology including Agile tools and framework. Experience leading and delivering complex enterprise solutions and teams Experience in procurement of IT equipment and managing vendors and their relevant products and services Basic knowledge of IP addressing and subnetting to help identify devices on a network. Experience with deployment wired and wireless network infrastructure. Telephony experience in CISCO Call manager DIDs, DDIs, TFNs and RightFax. Experience and or understanding with ordering of network circuits, Carrier vendor management and circuit procurement process.
