A telecaller is primarily responsible for engaging customers or prospects via phone outbound to promote products/services, generate leads, follow up, maintain relationships, and support sales/marketing teams. Some of the core roles include: Making outbound calls to potential customers/prospects to introduce or promote products or services. Qualifying leads: identifying prospects who may be interested, gathering relevant information, and forwarding them to the sales team or scheduling Following up with existing customers or leads to nurture relationships, ensure satisfaction, or prompt repeat business. Maintaining accurate records/database of calls, customer details, follow‐ups, outcomes. Meeting sales conversion targets as set by the organisation. 🎯 Key ResponsibilitiesHere’s a more detailed list of responsibilities you’ll often see in a Telecaller job description: Initiate and execute outbound calls to both existing and potential customers. Understand customer needs via questioning & listening, and propose appropriate products/services. Demonstrate or explain product features, benefits, pricing etc. to potential customers. Qualify leads by checking interest, budget, decision‐maker availability etc., and pass to sales Maintain/update CRM or database with call‐details, outcomes. Follow up on previous interactions to remind prospects, nurture relationships, or check satisfaction. Meet monthly targets ( conversions, sales) as set by management. Monitor and report on customer objections, market trends, feedback, competitor insights to management. Adhere to scripts/guidelines, maintain professional call etiquette, comply with company policy. 🛠 Skills & QualificationsTo succeed as a Telecaller, these are commonly required: Communication skills: Excellent spoken (and often written) communication, in English and perhaps a regional language. Persuasion & negotiation: Ability to handle objections, convince prospects, stay positive. Listening skills & empathy: Understanding customer needs and responding appropriately. Time‐management & multitasking: Handling many calls, follow‐ups, database updates. Resilience / ability to handle pressure: Call targets, rejection, high volumes. Product/industry knowledge: Being able to explain features/benefits and answer queries. Educational/experience requirements vary: many companies ask for at least 12th pass or graduate, sometimes previous telecalling or customer‐service experience. You might be calling potential customers in a given region, using a script provided by Team Leader. You log each call outcome (connected/not, interested/not, follow‐up required) in a spreadsheet. For those interested, you schedule a further discussion or pass the lead to a sales executive. You follow up with existing customers for feedback or repeat business. Your manager sets you a target: You report issues raised by customers to your team (e.g., recurring complaint) so that marketing/sales can adjust.
