Job Description

Job Summary:

Team Lead / Senior Credit Underwriter

Key Responsibilities:

Analyze loan applications and financial documents (income, balance sheets, bank statements, etc.) to assess borrower risk.
Conduct credit evaluation using internal underwriting policies, external credit reports, and scoring models.
Ensure due diligence, KYC, and compliance with regulatory guidelines.
Recommend loan approvals, rejections, or modifications with justification.
Coordinate with internal teams (sales, operations, collections) to gather information and resolve discrepancies.
Maintain detailed records of underwriting decisions and support documentation.
Monitor existing portfolio to identify early warning signals or default risks.
Collaborate in improving underwriting processes and risk policies.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, or a related field.
Minimum
3 years of experience
in credit underwriting, preferably in NBFCs, Banks, or Fintech.
Strong knowledge of credit risk principles and lending practices.
Proficiency in financial analysis, ratio analysis, and credit scoring models.
Familiarity with loan origination systems (LOS) and credit bureau reports.
Excellent communication and decision-making skills.
Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

Preferred:

Experience in underwriting unsecured/business loans, MSME lending, or retail credit.
Knowledge of regulatory compliance and RBI guidelines.
Hands-on experience with credit bureau APIs and analytics to
