Storage & Linux Support Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Provide

  end-user support for storage and related services

  in a 24×7 production environment (rotational or permanent shifts).
• Schedule, prioritize, and execute support activities while effectively

  communicating actions, progress, and outcomes

  to stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to

  LDAP, NFS, mounts, performance, access control, backups, and storage availability

  .
• Perform

  data operations

  including copy, move, delete, cleanup, backup, and archival as required.
• Manage and modify

  disk permissions, ownership, and group access

  .
• Prepare, maintain, and update

  technical documentation

  for issues, resolutions, and operational procedures.
• Apply

  independent judgment and creative problem-solving

  techniques to resolve complex technical issues.
• Ensure timely issue resolution while meeting SLAs in a fast-paced, production-critical environment.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in

  Linux system administration

  , including:
• File permissions, sticky bits, crontabs
• rsync, automount, NFS services
• LDAP integration and NFSv4 ACLs
• In-depth knowledge of

  Enterprise Storage technologies

  , including:
• NAS and SAN architectures
• NFS, CIFS/SMB, iSCSI, FCP, and S3
• Hands-on experience with

  storage vendor platforms

  such as:
• NetApp, Pure Storage, EMC/Isilon (or similar)
• Solid understanding of

  Directory Services

  , particularly LDAP.
• Working knowledge of

  networking fundamentals

  , including:
• Switching, routing, firewalls
• DNS, subnetting, and basic network troubleshooting
• Exposure to

  IT Service Management (ITSM) tools

  and operational support processes.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a

  customer-first mindset

  .
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
