How you’ll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities):

  • Responsible for overall development, authoring, and management of aircraft work cards for all Delta Air Lines fleets in accordance with FAA-approved programs and engineering documents.
  • Must ensure compliance to FAA Regulations, Engineering documentation, and other substantiating data as outlined in the Technical Operation Policies & Procedures (TOPP).
  • Monitor workflow for compliance and conduct internal audits to ensure regulatory adherence.
  • Collaborate with departments including Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Engineering, and Production Control to maintain Delta standards.
  • Ensure work cards comply with FARs, Airworthiness Directives (ADs), and fleet maintenance program procedures.
  • Incorporate safety-conscious behaviors into all operational processes and work card content.
  • Revise and coordinate changes with the Lower Order Check Program to maintain compliance with Technical Operations Policy and Procedures (TOPP).
  • Complete Maintenance Data Change Requests through Delta-approved applications and track progress for completeness.
  • Review existing work cards and related documents for compliance with Delta and regulatory standards.
  • Perform “Second Set of Eyes” reviews for new and existing projects.
  • Develop strategic and tactical plans fostering a safety-conscious environment for employee well-being.
  • Must be able to multitask in a high-volume, fast-paced working environment
  • Guide and mentor “Engineers” within the CSM – Engine Records team to deliver on key business objectives.
  • Position requires a thorough knowledge of commercial aviation documentation and guidance specifications (i.e. ATA 100, iSpec2200, S1000D, and etc).


What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications):

  • Aircraft Maintenance Engineering license (or applicable degree) with direct experience as a Technical Writer.
  • 8-11 years of experience in total inclusive of AME and Technical writer within the Aviation sector (Aircraft Structures, Systems and Propulsion)
  • Must have previous aircraft maintenance experience with thorough knowledge and understanding of aircraft manuals (Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC), Engine Maintenance Manual (EMM), etc. used for inspecting, troubleshooting and repairing of aircraft and engines.
  • Should be a self-starter with excellent written and verbal communications skills, able to handle several projects simultaneously with minimum supervision, must be well-organized, and able to prioritize work to meet established deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret task requirements and develop safe, effective, and compliant maintenance procedures.
  • Must have very strong computer skills with knowledge and experience in structured authoring preferred (SGML, S1000D, XML, and etc).
  • Must embrace diverse people, thinking, and styles.
