Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced

SQL Developer

to join our team on a

3-month contract (Remote)

. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in

SQL Server, T-SQL, and Sybase

, with a proven track record of writing, optimizing, and migrating complex SQL code. This role requires deep technical expertise in SQL coding and the ability to translate Sybase syntax into SQL Server T-SQL (ANSI standard) while maintaining performance and functionality.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot stored procedures, complex views, triggers, and indexes in SQL Server.
• Migrate existing Sybase codebases to SQL Server T-SQL ANSI standard syntax.
• Review, refactor, and enhance auto-converted code from tools like SQL LINES (and similar tools), making manual adjustments where necessary.
• Recode 87 forms/code libraries (ranging from 500–5000 lines each) from Sybase syntax to SQL Server.
• Replace Sybase in-line alias usage and internal functions with equivalent SQL Server code or custom functions.
• Work with Appeon Infomaker (UI console) and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) for editing and compiling code.
• Collaborate with project stakeholders to ensure high-quality, accurate code migration and performance tuning.
  

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in SQL development (actively coding, not just exposure).
• Strong expertise in SQL Server, T-SQL, and Sybase.
• Proficiency in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) and query analyzer tools.
• Deep understanding of stored procedures, triggers, indexes, and query optimization.
• Proven experience in code migration from Sybase to SQL Server.
• Ability to leverage and fine-tune results from automated SQL conversion tools.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills with attention to detail.
