As an enthusiastic Indian Commis specializing in South Indian cuisine at Malgudi, you will be an integral part of the kitchen team, contributing to the preparation, cooking, and presentation of authentic South Indian and Indian dishes. Your passion for South Indian cuisine and eagerness to learn will enhance the dining experience for our esteemed patrons. **Key Responsibilities:** - **Food Preparation:** Assist in preparing ingredients for various South Indian dishes, such as chopping vegetables, grinding spices, and marinating meats. Ensure accurate following of recipes to maintain portion consistency. - **Cooking and Plating:** Execute specific cooking techniques for South Indian cuisine, including tempering, sauting, and grilling. Plate dishes as per presentation guidelines and quality standards. - **Quality Control:** Monitor and uphold food quality during the cooking process. Adhere to standard recipes for consistent taste, texture, and appearance of South Indian dishes. - **Inventory Management:** Support in managing ingredient inventory levels by handling storage, labeling, and rotation. Notify senior kitchen staff of shortages or expired items for prompt replenishment. - **Kitchen Operations:** Maintain a clean and organized workstation in line with food safety regulations. Properly handle and store food products to meet hygiene standards. - **Team Collaboration:** Work closely with other kitchen team members to ensure smooth workflow and timely order execution. Communicate effectively with Sous Chefs, Line Cooks, and fellow Commis. - **Learning and Development:** Enhance your skills and knowledge in Indian cuisine, especially South Indian specialties. Seek guidance from senior chefs to refine techniques and learn new recipes. - **Health and Safety:** Adhere to health and safety protocols, including correct handling of equipment and kitchen tools. Maintain a hygienic and safe working environment. **Qualifications Required:** - Experience in Indian cuisine, particularly South Indian dishes, is preferred. - Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations. - Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately. - Effective communication skills and teamwork abilities. - Adherence to health, safety, and hygiene standards in a kitchen environment.
