Sound Engineer

Job Summary:

The Sound Engineer will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of audio production for events organized by the company. This includes planning, setup, operation, and dismantling of sound systems, ensuring superior audio quality throughout the event. The role demands technical proficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in high-pressure, live-event environments. The Sound Engineer plays a vital role in delivering seamless sound experiences that meet client expectations and enhance overall event quality.

Setup and Operation

• Install, configure, and test sound equipment including speakers, amplifiers, microphones, mixers, processors, and monitors.
• Perform thorough sound checks before the event to balance and fine-tune audio levels.
• Operate sound consoles (analog and digital) during live events, ensuring clear and balanced sound throughout.
• Manage audio playback for presentations, performances, and background music as per event flow.
• Monitor and adjust audio levels in real-time during events to maintain optimal quality.

Maintenance and Technical Support

• Troubleshoot and resolve sound issues promptly during setup or live operation.
• Ensure all audio equipment is properly maintained, cleaned, and safely stored post-event.
• Maintain detailed logs of equipment usage, faults, and repairs.
• Coordinate with the inventory or warehouse team for regular equipment inspection and maintenance.

Crew and Vendor Management

• Supervise and guide technical crew members and freelancers during setup and dismantling.
• Coordinate with external vendors or rental companies for additional sound gear when required.
• Ensure safety standards and best practices are followed during equipment handling and setup.

Post-Event Responsibilities

• Assist in dismantling and packing audio equipment post-event.
• Provide post-event feedback and reports highlighting technical challenges, improvements, and recommendations.
• Update inventory records and inform the Production Head of any equipment damage or losses.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Diploma/Degree in Sound Engineering, Audio Technology, or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in live sound operation, preferably in the event or entertainment industry.
• Proficient in operating digital and analog mixing consoles (Yamaha, Soundcraft, Allen & Heath, Midas, etc.).
• Strong understanding of PA systems, signal flow, and acoustic principles.
• Knowledge of audio recording and playback software (e.g., QLab, Ableton, Pro Tools) is an added advantage.
• Experience handling corporate events, concerts, weddings, and outdoor productions preferred.
