Solar Engineer

Experience: 3 Years
Qualification: Diploma / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, or Renewable Energy
Location: Karnataka

1. Job Purpose:

To manage day-to-day site execution of solar power plant construction activities including module installation, cabling, equipment erection, quality control, and safety compliance, ensuring timely completion as per project specifications.

2. Key Responsibilities:
A. Project Execution & Site Coordination

• Oversee and execute daily construction activities for Rooftop or Ground-Mount Solar Projects.
• Ensure installation of PV modules, MMS structures, combiner boxes, inverters, transformers, ACDB/DCDB, and BOS is as per approved drawings.
• Supervise DC & AC cable laying, termination, routing, and testing.
• Coordinate with civil, electrical, and mechanical teams for smooth workflow.

B. Technical Responsibilities

• Review site drawings, layout plans, BOQs, and technical specifications.
• Conduct pre-commissioning tests such as megger testing, continuity, polarity, and string testing.
• Assist in inverter commissioning, SCADA connectivity, and plant synchronization activities.
• Ensure adherence to IS/IEC standards for installation and safety.

C. Quality Assurance & Safety

• Implement QA/QC processes and raise Inspection Requests (IRs) with the quality team.
• Conduct routine inspections of workmanship and ensure corrective actions when needed.
• Conduct Toolbox Talks and enforce safety protocols and PPE usage.
• Identify and report unsafe practices or site hazards.

D. Reporting & Documentation

• Prepare Daily Progress Reports (DPR), material consumption logs, and manpower deployment lists.
• Maintain documents like red-marked drawings, test reports, checklists, cable schedules, and site reports.
• Coordinate with the client, consultants, subcontractors, and internal project teams.
• Track project timelines, milestones, and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.

E. Vendor & Contractor Management

• Supervise subcontractor teams and ensure productivity and quality.
• Verify workmanship and ensure adherence to project timelines.
• Assist in material inspection, storage, and inventory management.

3. Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, electrical installation, and power plant construction.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings (GA, SLD, layout, foundation drawings).
• Good understanding of electrical testing procedures, quality standards, and HSE norms.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and coordination skills.
• Good communication and reporting skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD (optional), and basic project tools.

4. Qualification & Experience

• Diploma / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of site execution experience in solar EPC projects (ground-mount or rooftop).
• Experience in cable laying, module installation, equipment erection, and testing is essential.
