Site Engineer / Project Engineer

1. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES & SITE SUPERVISION

Installation Oversight: Supervise and manage the installation of all mechanical fire protection systems, which typically include fire suppression systems,

fire pump and associated piping, valves and components

hydrant and hose reel systems

smoke management and contorl systems

2. Quality Assurance & Control (QA/QC):

​Ensure all mechanical fire and safety works are executed according to approved construction drawings, specifications, local authority regulations (e.g., Civil Defence), and international codes (e.g., NFPA).

​Conduct regular site inspections to verify the quality of materials and workmanship.

​Review and approve contractor submittals and shop drawings for technical compliance.

Resource Management:

​Estimate, prepare, and assign necessary resources, including manpower, materials, equipment, and tools, for fire and safety works.

​Plan and analyze construction methodologies to recommend the most efficient and safe execution options 2. Testing, Commissioning, and Documentation

​System Testing: Oversee and participate in rigorous testing and commissioning of all installed mechanical fire and safety systems. This includes:

​Hydrostatic testing of piping networks.

​Functional testing of fire pumps and pressure regulating devices.

​Final system testing in coordination with other disciplines (e.g., Electrical, Controls).

​Compliance and Codes:

​Ensure strict compliance with all applicable fire safety regulations, building codes, and industry standards (e.g., NFPA 13, NFPA 20, local fire codes).

​Liaise with Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and third-party inspectors to obtain necessary approvals and sign-offs.

​Reporting & Documentation:

​Maintain detailed project documentation, including daily progress reports, inspection requests (IRs), material receiving reports (MRRs), and as-built drawings.

​Provide technical support for compiling the final project handover and commissioning documents.

​3. Safety and Coordination

​On-Site Safety: Directly responsible for the safety of the mechanical team, ensuring all work is executed in strict adherence to all site-specific and industry-standard Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) protocols.

​Coordination:

​Work closely with the MEP Manager, Electrical Site Engineer (for fire alarm system interfaces), Civil/Structural teams, and the client's consultant.

​Manage the interface and coordination between mechanical fire systems and other building services.

​Problem Solving: Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve any technical or site-related issues that arise during the installation and commissioning phases to maintain project continuity.

​Key Requirements

​Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Fire Protection Engineering.

​Experience: Minimum [2-5] years of experience in site supervision, installation, or project management of mechanical systems, with a specific focus on fire protection/firefighting systems.

​Technical Skills:

​Strong knowledge of international and local fire codes, particularly NFPA standards.

​Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.

​Understanding of hydraulic calculations for fire sprinkler/hydrant systems is a significant advantage.

​Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit MEP) for reviewing layouts.
