Role Overview

The Electrical Service Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the reliable operation, maintenance, and optimization of electrical systems and control panels used in cranes and hoists. This role requires strong technical expertise combined with hands-on troubleshooting, maintenance, and customer support skills to ensure safe and efficient crane operations.

Roles & Responsibilities

Installation & Commissioning

• Install and commission electrical systems for cranes and hoists as per engineering drawings and specifications.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Ensure proper wiring of motors, controllers, VFDs, sensors, limit switches, and safety devices.
• Perform functional and operational testing to verify system performance.
  

Annual Maintenance & Health Check-ups

• Carry out preventive maintenance and health check-ups of crane electrical systems.
• Inspect contactors, relays, power panels, limit switches, and control components.
• Identify signs of wear, corrosion, overheating, or malfunction.
• Perform electrical testing, calibration, cleaning, lubrication, and adjustments.
  

Troubleshooting & Repairs

• Diagnose and resolve electrical faults to minimize equipment downtime.
• Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters and insulation testers.
• Analyze VFD error codes and program logs.
• Repair or replace faulty motors, drives, sensors, and control panels safely and efficiently.
  

Safety Compliance

• Ensure strict adherence to electrical and industrial safety standards.
• Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures during maintenance and repairs.
• Use appropriate PPE and conduct risk assessments at worksites.
• Ensure installations and repairs comply with applicable electrical codes and regulations.
  

Customer Support & Training

• Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers and crane operators.
• Train operators and maintenance staff on safe operation, preventive maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
• Educate customers on safety practices and emergency response procedures.
  

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of service activities, inspections, repairs, and spare parts usage.
• Prepare detailed service reports with findings, actions taken, and recommendations.
• Update technical documentation and equipment records as required.
  

Continuous Improvement & Emergency Response

• Participate in root cause analysis for recurring electrical issues.
• Suggest improvements in maintenance processes, tools, and service efficiency.
• Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and critical service calls to restore operations.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 4-9 years of experience in electrical service or maintenance within an industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of crane electrical systems, control panels, and VFDs.
• Hands-on experience in troubleshooting industrial equipment or heavy machinery.
• Understanding of crane safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and handle emergency situations effectively.
