As a Senior WordPress Plugin & Theme Developer, you will own custom WordPress engineering. This role is not about page-building or design — it’s about writing code and building plugins/themes from scratch. You’ll build everything from lightweight feature plugins that add specific site functionality to larger, scalable plugins/themes architected for long-term use. You should also have the skills (or willingness to learn quickly) to work with e-commerce platforms built on WordPress, extending or customizing them to deliver advanced commerce features. In addition, you’ll handle technical WordPress support tickets — debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving backend issues — but not design or cosmetic edits.

Requirements:

• 5+ years professional WordPress development experience.
• Proven expertise in building custom plugins and themes from scratch.
• Strong technical skills in PHP, MySQL, OOP, JavaScript/ES6, HTML5, CSS3, REST APIs.
• Deep understanding of WordPress core, hooks, filters, and database structure.
• Experience with or ability to learn quickly: WordPress e-commerce platforms (WooCommerce or similar) and custom commerce builds.
• Familiarity with debugging production WP issues.
• Git/version control and modern dev workflows.
• Commitment to maintainable, scalable, and documented code.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience packaging plugins/themes for resale/distribution.
• Contributions to WordPress Core or open-source plugins.
• Familiarity with headless WordPress (React/Next.js).
• Advanced experience with subscriptions, bookings, or multi-vendor setups.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect and build custom WordPress plugins and themes from scratch.
• Deliver both small feature add-ons and larger reusable builds.
• Write clean, reusable, well-documented code.
• Build internal libraries/components for repeatable functionality.
• Work with WordPress e-commerce platforms (e.g., WooCommerce or similar).
• Extend/customize e-commerce functionality: product types, checkout flows, payment/shipping logic, subscriptions, memberships.
• Build custom e-commerce plugins and features as needed for client projects.
• Respond to support tickets for technical fixes (bugs, backend issues, integrations).
• Debug across plugins, themes, and API connections.
• Ensure timely fixes with clear client/team communication.
• Translate client requirements into technical builds.
• Collaborate with the Project Manager to scope, estimate, and deliver on deadlines.
• Establish WordPress development standards (documentation, testing, performance).
• Contribute to internal WP tools/plugins that can be reused or packaged for distribution.

Successful candidates for this role will be rewarded with the following benefits:

• A total of five paid vacation days per year (additional days can be taken unpaid).
• A 5% raise per year guaranteed (additional raises or bonuses may be given for outstanding performance).
• A paid 15-minute break for every 4 hours of work.

* Vacation days increase by 1 vacation day per year. I.e. after one year of employment, the total paid vacation days on year 2 would be six, on year 3 seven, etc.
