Senior Vendor Manager

As a Senior Vendor Manager at the company, you will work closely with the Associate Director and Director to oversee the production-vendor management function. Your primary responsibilities will include ensuring the delivery of operational KPIs through effective vendor performance and management. You will play a key role in meeting targets, maintaining quality standards, and driving efficiencies. Reporting to the Associate Director, Vendor Management, you will be an integral part of the Vendor Management leadership team focused on achieving operational excellence across Production. - Collaborate with the Associate Director and Director to monitor vendor performance, ensuring compliance with SLAs and KPIs related to quality and speed. - Identify and address underperformance, working on contingency plans for short-, medium-, and long-term scenarios. - Supervise production inflow, optimize content handling processes, and resolve workflow issues in coordination with the Content Operations team. - Drive process enhancements, lead projects to improve scalable workflows, and implement best practices to reduce inefficiencies and support vendors during workflow transitions. - Cultivate strong vendor relationships, offer feedback, monitor performance, and ensure accountability. - Take charge of issue resolution, escalate concerns when necessary, and oversee the training of new processes. - Manage a team of Vendor Managers and step in for the Associate Director as needed. - Bachelor's Degree - Minimum of 5+ years of work experience in operations at an academic publisher or publishing services provider. - Extensive experience in vendor management, including overseeing output expectations, product quality, and budgeting. - Proven track record of collaborating across teams to achieve operational excellence, driving improvements through automation and workflow efficiency. - Demonstrated experience in meeting vendor performance goals. - Strong operational and analytical skills. - Excellent relationship management skills, especially with third-party vendor teams.
