The Platform Cloud Services SRE team supports globally distributed hosting and database systems for Akamai. These systems prioritize availability and performance, presenting unique operational complexities due to their global scale. This role offers the chance to develop software powering one of the largest distributed platforms worldwide.

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, collaborate with teams to enhance and measure system reliability. Utilize programming, distributed systems, troubleshooting, and analytical expertise to optimize system reliability and capacity.As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Partnering across teams to ensure the reliability, scalability and usability of our products and services
- Designing the architecture and implementation of complex cloud-based systems
- Defining requirements as part of the product lifecycle to influence new designs and standards
- Developing new tools and automation pipelines to support development, testing, and deployment workflows
- Collaborating with support, operations, and engineering teams to resolve application issues and network-related problems.
- Maintaining and exceeding high SLA targets, ensuring robust system uptime and performance
Do What You Love
To be successful in this role you will:
- 5+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or its equivalent
- Show expertise with programming and scripting languages, ideally Python and Bash.
- Demonstrate hands-on experience with technologies such as RKE2, ArgoCD, Docker, Apache Cassandra, PostgreSQL.
- Have in-depth understanding of computer networking concepts, Security concepts, Unix/Linux internals, distributed systems, and systems design.
- Have professional experience in a Site Reliability, Development, or Systems Engineering role, with large scale distributed systems
- Utilize automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, Salt Stack; understand monitoring tools Prometheus, Grafana, Loki.
