Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced and innovative Senior Rice Breeder to lead hybrid and varietal rice breeding programs, drive product development, strengthen the germplasm pipeline, and support commercial success through high-performing and climate-resilient varieties.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead rice breeding programs from parental line development to hybrid/variety release.

2. Develop high-yielding, disease-resistant, stress-tolerant rice varieties/hybrids.

3. Manage breeding trials, nursery operations, and field evaluations across multiple locations.

4. Oversee germplasm development, characterization, and maintenance.

Work closely with R&D, Production, and 4. Product Management teams for product advancement.

5. Implement modern breeding tools (Marker-Assisted Selection / Genomics / Speed Breeding preferred).

6. Ensure compliance with ICAR/PPV&FRA and regulatory guidelines.

7. Mentor and guide junior breeders and research teams.

8. Analyze data statistically and prepare technical reports/publications.

9. Support commercial team in product positioning and demonstrations.

Required Qualifications

M.Sc / Ph.D in Plant Breeding & Genetics / Genetics & Plant Breeding (Rice specialization preferred).

8+ years of proven experience in rice breeding with successful product launches.

Strong knowledge of rice genetics, hybrid breeding, trait improvement, and molecular breeding tools.

Experience in multi-location testing and data interpretation.

Strong leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills.

Preferred Skills

Experience with Hybrid Rice Programs

Knowledge of Biotech / MAS Techniques

Familiarity with Trial Data Management Tools

Team Leadership & Cross-functional Collaboration

Excellent communication and reporting ability
