Job Description

 Role Summary:

Senior Research Associate

Key Responsibilities:

Research & Development

  • Design and execute experiments to improve DH induction protocols (e.g., anther/microspore culture, haploid induction via in vivo methods).
  • Optimize regeneration and chromosome doubling techniques for target crops.
  • Develop and validate molecular markers for haploid identification and DH confirmation.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Analyze experimental data using statistical and bioinformatics tools.
  • Prepare technical reports, publications, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

Collaboration & Training:

  • Collaborate with breeding, biotechnology, and field teams to integrate DH lines into breeding pipelines.
  • Train junior staff and technicians in DH methodologies and lab protocols.

Lab & Facility Management:

  • Maintain tissue culture labs and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Manage inventory of reagents, consumables, and equipment.
Qualifications:

Education:

  • Ph.D. in Plant Biotechnology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in DH technology, preferably in a commercial or academic breeding program.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in tissue culture techniques and molecular biology tools (PCR, ELISA, flow cytometry).
  • Strong analytical skills and familiarity with statistical software (e.g., R, SAS).
  • Excellent communication and project management abilities.
