Role Summary: Senior Research Associate – Double Haploids will lead and support research initiatives focused on the development, optimization, and implementation of double haploid (DH) technologies in crop breeding programs. This role requires advanced expertise in plant tissue culture, genetics, and molecular biology, with a strong emphasis on innovation, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration. Key Responsibilities: Research & Development : Design and execute experiments to improve DH induction protocols (e.g., anther/microspore culture, haploid induction via in vivo methods). Optimize regeneration and chromosome doubling techniques for target crops. Develop and validate molecular markers for haploid identification and DH confirmation. Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze experimental data using statistical and bioinformatics tools. Prepare technical reports, publications, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders. Collaboration & Training: Collaborate with breeding, biotechnology, and field teams to integrate DH lines into breeding pipelines. Train junior staff and technicians in DH methodologies and lab protocols. Lab & Facility Management: Maintain tissue culture labs and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. Manage inventory of reagents, consumables, and equipment. Qualifications: Education: Ph.D. in Plant Biotechnology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, or related field. Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in DH technology, preferably in a commercial or academic breeding program. Skills: Proficiency in tissue culture techniques and molecular biology tools (PCR, ELISA, flow cytometry). Strong analytical skills and familiarity with statistical software (e.g., R, SAS). Excellent communication and project management abilities.
