About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned and dynamic Senior Quality Engineer to lead a team of 10 professionals across in-process and final quality functions. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in foundry operations, precision machining, and dimensional inspection using advanced metrology tools. This role is critical to ensuring zero-defect production, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and mentor a team of 10 quality engineers and inspectors.
- Coordinate quality activities across foundry and machine shop operations.
- Conduct team reviews, training, and performance assessments.
Quality Assurance & Control
- Manage and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Ensure compliance with internal standards and customer specifications.
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions using 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, 7 QC Tools, and 5 Core Tools.
Dimensional Inspection & Metrology
- Oversee dimensional inspection of machined components and castings.
- Operate and interpret results from CMM and VMM systems.
- Ensure compliance with GD&T requirements and engineering drawings.
- Validate critical dimensions and tolerances for customer acceptance.
Process & Product Quality
- Monitor and improve quality across foundry processes and precision machining.
- Conduct metallurgical testing: chemical, microstructural, mechanical, and hardness.
- Lead failure analysis and implement preventive measures.
Customer Focus
- Manage customer complaints and ensure timely resolution.
- Participate in customer audits and quality reviews.
- Prepare and issue quality certifications (e.g., 3.1 certificates).
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records: in-process reports, rejection analysis, audit findings.
- Update quality dashboards and display boards with key metrics.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance yield, reduce rework, and minimize cost.
- Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams for systemic improvements.
Qualifications
- BE / M.Tech in Mechanical or Metallurgy.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in quality roles within foundry and machining environments.
- Hands-on experience with CMM, VMM, and GD&T.
- Strong knowledge of metallurgical processes, precision machining, and quality tools.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and analytical abilities.
