We're looking for an experienced Power BI Senior Consultant with exceptional skills in handling large datasets and optimizing query performance. In this role, you'll work with enterprise-level data environments to design, implement, and optimize Power BI solutions that deliver insights from massive data volumes while maintaining exceptional performance.

Required Experience: 5 to 7 years

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop complex Power BI solutions that efficiently process and visualize large datasets (TB+ scale)
• Implement advanced query optimization techniques to improve dashboard performance and reduce load times
• Create optimized data models using best practices for large-scale implementations
• Develop and enforce DAX optimization strategies for complex calculations on high-volume data
• Architect efficient ETL/ELT processes that minimize data processing overhead
• Perform performance troubleshooting and optimization for existing Power BI implementations
• Implement proper incremental refresh policies and composite models for optimal performance
• Mentor junior team members on performance optimization techniques

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience with Power BI, including at least 3 years focused on enterprise-scale implementations
• Proven expertise in DAX optimization techniques for large datasets
• Deep understanding of Power BI's various storage modes (Import, DirectQuery, Composite) and when to leverage each
• Advanced knowledge of query folding concepts and implementation
• Experience optimizing Power BI reports against various data sources including SQL Server, Azure Synapse, and Snowflake.
• Familiarity with monitoring tools for Power BI performance assessment
• Experience with Power BI Premium capacity management and optimization

Technical Skills

• Advanced DAX formula writing and optimization
• Power Query M language proficiency
• SQL query optimization techniques
• Performance testing and benchmarking methodologies
• Data compression and partitioning strategies
• Familiarity with Power BI REST APIs and PowerShell for administration
• Understanding of Direct Query optimizations and limitations
• Experience with Azure Analysis Services or Power BI Premium datasets

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate or equivalent certification
• Knowledge of Vertipaq engine internals
• Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics or similar data warehouse solutions
• Background in implementing row-level security in enterprise environments
