Power Automate Consultant
with 6-8 years of experience to lead our process automation initiatives. As we expand our service offerings beyond Data Engineering and BI, we need a specialist who can design robust, enterprise-grade workflows.You will play a pivotal role in integrating
Microsoft Power Platform
with our existing data infrastructure (SQL, Azure, Power BI, Tableau), ensuring seamless data flow and operational efficiency for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Solution Architecture & Development: Design, develop, and deploy complex end-to-end automation solutions using Power Automate Cloud Flows and Power Automate Desktop (RPA).
- Integration Specialist: Build custom connectors and leverage APIs (REST/SOAP) to integrate Power Automate with third-party services, Power BI datasets, SQL databases, and Azure Data Services.
- Data Orchestration: Create workflows that trigger data refreshes in Power BI/Tableau, handle ETL failure notifications, or automate data entry from emails/forms into structured databases.
- Governance & Best Practices: Establish ALM (Application Lifecycle Management) processes for the Power Platform, including version control, environment strategy (Dev/Test/Prod), and security governance.
- Troubleshooting & Optimization: Monitor existing flows for performance bottlenecks, API limit throttling, and logic errors; provide rapid resolution to maintain 99.9% uptime.
- Mentorship: Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME), guiding junior developers and cross-training our BI/Data teams on automation capabilities.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Core Automation: Mastery of Power Automate (Cloud & Desktop). Deep understanding of triggers, actions, loops, variables, and error handling scopes.
- Expression Language: Advanced proficiency in Power Automate Expressions (Workflow Definition Language) for complex data manipulation (JSON parsing, string operations, array filtering).
- Integration Experience: Strong hands-on experience connecting to:
- Data Sources: SQL Server, SharePoint Lists, Dataverse, Azure Blob Storage.
- BI Tools: Triggering Power BI dataset refreshes or distributing Tableau PDF reports via email.
- Scripting: Familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript or PowerShell for advanced automation scenarios.
- Database Knowledge: Solid understanding of SQL (T-SQL) queries to fetch, update, and manage data within workflows.
- Soft Skills: Excellent requirement gathering skills—ability to translate "vague client ideas" into technical workflow logic.
Preferred Qualifications (plus)
- Certifications:
- PL-500: Microsoft Power Automate RPA Developer Associate.
- PL-400: Microsoft Power Platform Developer Associate.
- Azure Experience: Experience with Azure Logic Apps (as the "pro-code" sibling of Power Automate) and Azure Functions.
- Custom Connectors: Experience building Custom Connectors using OpenAPI/Swagger definitions.
- Data Background: Prior experience working alongside Data Engineers or within a BI team is a massive plus.
