About This Role
We are seeking a Data Centre Network Operations Specialist to join our team. The role involves delivering data centre network operations and implementations for Global Data Centres to support reliable and secure hosted and collaborative services across the Vodafone Network in Europe, with a focus on services hosted in managed data centres. The individual will be accountable for heterogeneous DC network support, including issue resolution, planned actions for maintaining infrastructure uptime, and break-fix actions. The role also involves minimizing the impact of network changes, reducing human errors by driving change processes effectively, and ensuring the business impacts of critical and complex outages in Global Data Centres are minimized by identifying root causes and resolving issues promptly.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintain operational KPI/SLA, proactively own incidents, including critical or escalated ones, and provide required resolution within agreed timelines.
- Lead and execute LCME activities, including migrations, derive assessment, task planning, and align with stakeholders and management.
- Deploy network fit for purpose, understanding how services/applications layers will work across the network (capacity, capability, utilization).
- Plan and lead network lifecycle activities, including migrations, specifically performing firewalls, LB, routing migrations, and handling Cloud Network infrastructure, including various CSPs – AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI.
- Manage relationships with stakeholders, particularly operations, design, infrastructure, and other customer teams for the implementation of planned activities.
Skills
- BE or equivalent degree in Telecommunication, Information Technology, or Electrical Engineering.
- Good knowledge of Data Centre network infrastructure and network equipment operation (Cisco routers and switches, F5 Load Balancers, Juniper Firewalls, SD-WAN, ACI) and TCP/IP, routing, and switching protocols.
- Good knowledge of cloud and NFV technologies (ACI, OpenStack, NSX).
- Hands-on experience with Cloud Networking – Azure/AWS.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to isolate issues quickly and provide the right solution, adaptable and self-dependent.
- 8/10+ years of work experience in large data centres resolving network issues.
- Desired vendor certifications or equivalent knowledge: Cisco (CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE), Juniper (JNCIA, JNCIS, or JNCIP), Fortinet (NSE), and F5 (BIG-IP Administrator, LTM Specialist).
- Knowledge of scripting and network automation is desired.
- Basic understanding of Agile and DevOps way of working is desired.
