Senior Java Technical Lead (10+ Years)

We are looking for a Senior Technical Architect / Senior Java Technical Lead with 10+ years of strong hands-on technical experience to play a key role in a large-scale Mainframe to Java modernization program for a well-established US financial services client. This role demands deep technical ownership, architecture design, and guidance of development teams through complex legacy-to-modern transformations.

Experience Required

• 10+ years of experience in Java / Enterprise application development
• Proven experience in legacy system modernization, preferably Mainframe to Java migration
• Experience working on large-scale, high-availability enterprise systems

Key Responsibilities

• Drive technical architecture and design for Mainframe modernization initiatives
• Analyze legacy Mainframe systems and translate business logic into Java & Spring Boot microservices
• Define application architecture, service design, and integration patterns
• Review and approve technical designs, code, and migration approaches
• Provide hands-on guidance to development teams on Java, Spring Boot, and microservices
• Own non-functional requirements – performance, scalability, security, resilience
• Work closely with Data, Mainframe, QA, DevOps, and Cloud teams
• Participate in client-facing technical discussions with US stakeholders
• Establish coding standards, best practices, and architecture governance
• Support production readiness and critical issue resolution

Mandatory Technical Skills

• Strong expertise in Java (Java 8 / 11 / 17)
• Extensive hands-on experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA
• Deep understanding of Microservices Architecture and Distributed Systems
• Strong experience in REST API design and development
• Solid expertise with Hibernate / JPA
• Strong experience with RDBMS, especially DB2 (Oracle / PostgreSQL acceptable)
• Strong knowledge of SQL, data modeling, and performance tuning
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Maven / Gradle
• Exposure to DevOps practices

NoSQL & Data Migration Expertise

• Strong working experience with NoSQL databases, especially Apache Cassandra
• Experience in Cassandra data modeling, performance tuning, and scaling
• Hands-on experience with data migration and transformation from Mainframe / RDBMS to NoSQL
• Understanding of eventual consistency and distributed data patterns

Good to Have Skills

• Functional understanding of Mainframe technologies (COBOL, JCL, VSAM, batch processing)
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration
• Exposure to Cloud platforms (AWS / Azure) and cloud-native design
• Experience with event-driven architecture (Kafka or similar)
• Strong Banking / BFSI domain knowledge
