Senior Java Developer (7–10 Years)

We are hiring a Senior Java Developer (7–10 Years) for a large-scale Mainframe to Java migration and modernization program for a well-established US financial services client. The role involves migrating legacy Mainframe systems into modern Java, Spring Boot, and microservices-based architectures, handling high-volume transactional data in a regulated BFSI environment.

Experience Required

• 7–10 years of strong hands-on experience as a Java Developer / Senior Java Developer
• Proven experience in legacy system migration, preferably Mainframe modernization or Mainframe to Java migration
• Experience working on enterprise-scale, high-availability systems

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to Mainframe modernization and legacy application migration
• Analyze Mainframe business logic and re-engineer it into Java 8+/Java 11 Spring Boot microservices
• Design and develop RESTful APIs and distributed microservices
• Define technical design, migration strategy, and data architecture
• Perform code reviews, enforce best practices, and mentor team members
• Collaborate with Mainframe, Data, QA, DevOps, and Architecture teams
• Own performance optimization, scalability, and production readiness
• Work closely with US-based client stakeholders in a client-facing role
• Follow Agile / Scrum development methodologies

Mandatory Technical Skills

• Strong expertise in Java (Java 8 / Java 11 / Java 17)
• Extensive hands-on experience with Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA
• Strong understanding of Microservices Architecture and Distributed Systems
• Proven experience in REST API development
• Deep hands-on experience with Hibernate / JPA
• Strong experience with RDBMS, especially DB2 (Oracle / PostgreSQL acceptable)
• Solid knowledge of SQL, data modeling, and performance tuning
• Experience with Maven / Gradle and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins)

NoSQL & Data Migration Skills (Critical)

• Strong working experience with NoSQL databases, especially Apache Cassandra
• Hands-on experience in Cassandra data modeling and performance tuning
• Experience in data migration, transformation, and reconciliation from Mainframe / RDBMS to NoSQL
• Understanding of high-volume data processing and eventual consistency

Good to Have Skills

• Functional understanding of Mainframe technologies (COBOL, JCL, VSAM, batch processing)
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerization
• Exposure to Cloud platforms (AWS / Azure) and cloud migration
• Experience with event-driven architecture
• Strong background in Banking / Financial Services (BFSI) domain

• Strong system design and technical design skills
• Proven ability to mentor developers and lead technical discussions
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication skills in a global delivery model
• Comfortable working in regulated, enterprise financial systems
