Senior Infrastructure Systems Engineer

Position Overview:

Guardant Health is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Systems Engineer to develop, manage and support our enterprise virtualization and Linux infrastructure. This role focuses on VMware, Linux systems, enterprise storage, and automation, playing a key part in delivering reliable and scalable platforms for mission-critical operations.

Key Responsibilities:

● Design, configure, and support Linux systems (RHEL, Oracle Linux, Ubuntu) on virtual and physical platforms. ● Manage filesystems, LVM, partitions, mount points, and performance tuning. ● Perform OS patching with Red Hat Satellite, Ubuntu Landscape, or similar tools. ● Automate tasks using Ansible, Terraform, Bash, or Python. ● Implement/maintain authentication/identity configurations using Kerberos and SSSD. ● Troubleshoot complex OS, storage, and networking issues. ● Architect and operate VMware infrastructure (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, NSX). ● Manage Horizon VDI pools, connection servers, and end-user experience. ● Integrate and optimize PURE Storage for VMware workloads. ● Administer backup and recovery using Rubrik and Pure Storage snapshots. ● Monitor infrastructure health and plan for capacity and DR readiness. ● Support hybrid workloads in AWS, including EC2 and storage services. ● Work with container platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes.

Qualifications:

● Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience. ● 8+ years in Linux systems engineering (RHEL, Oracle Linux, Ubuntu). ● 5+ years in VMware administration, including Horizon VDI. ● Strong knowledge of LVM, ext4, xfs, tuning, and partitioning. ● Experience with PURE Storage, Rubrik, and enterprise backup strategies. ● Proficiency in Bash, Python, Ansible, Terraform. ● Familiarity with monitoring tools and technologies (Zabbix, Prometheus, Nagios) ● AWS and container platform experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

● VMware VCP-DCV / VCP-DTM ● Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), Oracle Linux certifications ● Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices ● Experience with AWS Outposts is a strong plus.
