Senior Engineer/ AM -Sourcing

Role & responsibilities

The PCB Sourcing Commodity Engineer is responsible for managing the sourcing activities of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs). This role ensures that the companys PCB requirements are met in terms of cost, quality, and delivery time. The PCB Sourcing Commodity Engineer works closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, and production, to identify, evaluate, and select suppliers who can provide high-quality PCBs at competitive prices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supplier Selection and Management:
• Identify and evaluate potential PCB suppliers based on quality, lead time, pricing, and production capabilities.
• Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure the best pricing and delivery terms.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and ensure high performance in terms of product quality and delivery timelines.
• Cost Management:
• Drive cost-saving initiatives while ensuring the quality and functionality of PCBs meet the required specifications.
• Evaluate and manage the cost of components used in PCBs, and work with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
• Conduct periodic cost analysis and work on optimizing costs without compromising on quality.
• Collaboration with Design and NPI:
• Collaborate with product design teams and NPI engineers to understand PCB requirements and provide feedback on manufacturability, materials, and potential cost savings.
• Assist the design team in selecting the appropriate PCB designs, materials, and specifications that meet both technical and cost requirements.
• Market Research and Trend Analysis:
• Stay updated on the latest trends, technologies, and innovations in PCB manufacturing.
• Continuously assess market conditions and adapt sourcing strategies accordingly to ensure the company remains competitive.
• Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of suppliers, contracts, pricing, and procurement activities.
• Provide regular reports to management on sourcing activities, supplier performance, and cost-saving initiatives.
• Compliance and Risk Management:
• Ensure all PCB sourcing activities comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Identify and mitigate risks related to supplier performance, delivery schedules, and quality.

Who You Are?

• Experience: 9 to 12 years of experience in sourcing or procurement, with a focus on PCBs or electronics manufacturing.
• Technical Knowledge:
• Strong understanding of PCB manufacturing processes, materials, and industry standards.
• Knowledge of design and production of multilayer PCBs, flex, rigid-flex, and other advanced PCB technologies.
• Skills:
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, quality control, and production teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and ERP systems.
• Experience working with global suppliers and managing international sourcing projects.
• Familiarity with industry-specific standards and regulations for PCB manufacturing.
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
