Senior Accountant manages complex accounting operations, ensuring financial records are accurate and compliant with standards (GAAP/Tax), preparing reports (monthly/quarterly/annual), analyzing data for business insights, and often mentoring junior staff, requiring strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in accounting software and Excel for tasks like reconciliations, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls. Key Responsibilities:Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.General Ledger & Reconciliation: Oversee account reconciliations (bank, sub-ledger to GL) and maintain the general ledger.Analysis: Analyze financial data, budget vs. actual variances, and financial trends to support management decisions.Compliance & Controls: Ensure adherence to GAAP, tax regulations (TDS/TCS in India), and internal policies; assess and improve internal controls.Audits: Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and coordinating processes.Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes for better efficiency.Leadership: Mentor and guide junior accounting staff on daily tasks and best practices.Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in budget preparation, financial planning, and forecasting. Key Skills & Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance (Master's/CPA often preferred).Experience: Proven experience in core accounting functions.Technical Skills: Advanced Excel, accounting software, knowledge of GAAP, tax (GST/TDS in India).Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills; meticulous attention to detail. Common Duties:Review journal entries, fixed assets, and depreciation.Manage AP/AR, cash receipts, and revenue.Prepare and file GST/TDS returns (specific to some regions).
