Job Description

Purpose/Objective


    The Section Incharge for the Continuous Cast Rod (CCR) Plant is responsible for overseeing the entire production process of copper rods through continuous casting technology. They manage day-to-day operations to ensure optimal production efficiency, quality standards, and cost-effectiveness. The Lead coordinates with cross-functional teams to align production activities with market demand and drives process improvements to optimize plant performance. Additionally, the Lead fosters a culture of teamwork, safety, and sustainability, ensuring that all production activities comply with regulatory standards. This role is critical for meeting production targets and maintaining operational excellence at the copper plant.

Key Responsibilities of Role


    Production Planning and Execution: Oversee daily operations of the CCR Plant to ensure consistent production output and adherence to quality standards. Develop shift-specific production plans based on broader operational goals and adjust as necessary to maintain efficiency. Coordinate with marketing and sales teams to ensure alignment between production and market demand. 2. Process Optimization and Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to improve production efficiency through continuous improvement, automation, and waste reduction. Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities across the production line while maintaining product quality. Collaborate with other departments to streamline production processes and enhance resource utilization. 3. Quality Assurance and Control: Ensure that all production activities adhere to strict quality control measures and meet regulatory standards. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to product quality and address any deviations promptly. Work closely with the quality assurance team to ensure continuous improvement in product standards. 4. Equipment Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Oversee the basic and periodic maintenance required and align with the respective maintenance teams to drive and execute the same. Supervise/troubleshoot basic daily challenges with the maintenance team to maintain a maximum uptime. 5. HSE and Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, including Permit to Work (PTW) authorizations and environmental regulations within the plant. Conduct regular inspections to ensure adherence to environmental and safety standards during shift operations. Promote sustainability initiatives to reduce the plant's environmental footprint and ensure compliance with ISO and 5S standards. 6. Cost Management and Budgeting: Develop and implement production strategies to meet demand, improve efficiency, and reduce operational costs. Adherence to budget and opportunities to manage cost. 7. Resource and Workforce Management: Lead, mentor, and develop the CCR team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to support team members’ growth and development. Ensure effective training programs are in place to enhance the skills and knowledge of the workforce. 8. Reporting and Data Analytics: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track production output, quality, and operational efficiency. Prepare and present detailed reports on production performance, cost efficiency, and process improvements to senior management. Utilize data analytics to identify trends and make informed decisions to improve plant performance. 9. Digitisation and Tech Adoption: Champion the adoption of new technologies and digital tools to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy. Implement advanced monitoring and control systems to streamline the CCR production process. Stay updated on technological advancements in the industry and recommend suitable tech integrations for the CCR Plant.

Qualifications and Experience


    Education Qualification: B.Tech / BE -Metallurgy Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Related Field Relevant certifications in manufacturing or operations management would be an advantage Work Experience: 8-12 years of experience in the Copper Manufacturing industry Demonstrated track record of leadership in manufacturing operations Proven experience in driving continuous improvement initiatives
