Job Title: SCM & Packaging Development Engineer

Location:

Pune (Ranjangaon Plant)

Job Summary

SCM and Packaging Development Engineer with experience supporting a global OEM automotive manufacturer. Responsible for end-to-end packaging development, logistics optimization, supplier coordination, and sustainability initiatives for local and export vehicle programs. Actively involved in CKD and domestic projects, ensuring compliance with ISTA standards, JIT/JIS requirements, cost optimization, and quality improvement.Key Responsibilities
  • Working with a leading global automotive OEM manufacturing.
  • Supporting OEM vehicle programs.
  • Developing packaging solutions based on BOM analysis, focusing on Class 1, 2, 3, and 4 parts for 100% returnable local packaging and export corrugated packaging, validated as per ISTA standards.
  • Designing trolleys for BIW and stamping parts, considering production line requirements, warehouse space constraints, inventory levels,
  • Managing JIT and JIS logistics, including calculation of trolley quantities, returnable packaging loops, and amortization cost analysis.
  • Performing in-house packaging simulations using Pack Assist and packaging design software, following standard footprints to achieve vehicle load optimization targets of 90% and above.
  • Collecting and managing EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) data and enforcing minimum 20% recyclable plastic content for Tier 2 and Tier 3 suppliers.
  • Coordinating with Cross-Functional Teams (CFT) to obtain packaging approvals and completing packaging sign-off with validation reports.
  • Executing trials and validations in line with project timelines and securing approvals through IPDP and Packaging Sheet sign-offs.
  • Maintaining all packaging-related data and documentation in centralized systems and presenting KPIs and sustainability performance to management.
  • Driving initiatives to reduce material damage during transportation, handling, and storage through COPQ (Cost of Poor Quality) analysis and corrective actions.
