Job Description

 

Role Overview:

The Safety Officer will be responsible for ensuring the safety and health of all personnel working on solar EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) projects in Gujarat. The officer will implement, monitor, and enforce safety policies and procedures to prevent workplace accidents, ensure compliance with statutory regulations, and promote a culture of safety across all project sites.

Key Roles Responsibilities:

1. Safety Management

Develop, implement, and monitor site-specific safety plans and procedures for solar EPC projects.
Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, health, and environmental regulations (Factories Act, Electricity Act, and relevant local laws).
Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
Maintain safety records, incident reports, and ensure proper documentation of near-misses, accidents, and safety inspections.

2. Training Awareness

Conduct regular safety training and workshops for project staff, contractors, and subcontractors.
Promote safety awareness campaigns and ensure all personnel understand emergency procedures.
Develop and maintain toolbox talks, safety manuals, and SOPs tailored for solar EPC operations.

3. Incident Investigation Reporting

Lead investigations of accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures.
Prepare and submit timely reports to management, regulatory authorities, and clients as required.

4. Compliance Regulatory Coordination

Ensure adherence to statutory safety regulations, standards, and best practices in solar EPC construction.
Coordinate with government authorities, safety inspectors, and environmental agencies during audits or inspections.
Ensure all permits, licenses, and certifications are up to date and properly documented.

5. Emergency Preparedness

Develop and maintain emergency response plans, including fire safety, electrical hazards, and first-aid procedures.
Conduct mock drills and ensure the team is trained for emergencies.
Maintain and supervise the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) across all sites.

6. Collaboration Reporting

Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and Construction Teams to integrate safety into project planning and execution.
Provide regular updates to senior management on safety performance, KPIs, and improvement initiatives.
Support procurement and contractor teams to ensure all equipment and materials meet safety standards.

Qualifications Experience

Education:

Diploma/Bachelor s degree in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical/Civil) or a relevant safety certification (NEBOSH, OSHA, or equivalent).

Skills:

Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety management software.
