Role Overview

The Safety Manager will lead Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) for all rooftop projects, ensuring compliance with Indian regulations, various tender guidelines, lender requirements and Horizon’s internal standards. The role covers pre-bid due diligence, construction and O&M phases, working closely with engineering, projects and HR.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Graduate in Engineering / Science / EHS (or equivalent) with

    6–9 years

    of experience in safety/EHS roles in

    renewable energy / solar / construction

    with relevant certifications like NEBOSH IGC or IOSH Managing Safely, ADIS / PDIS or equivalent safety diploma, Work-at-height and electrical safety certifications, Fire safety & first-aid certification, ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 audit certifications.
  • Strong working knowledge of: rooftop and small ground-mounted solar construction practices
  • Indian Electricity Act 1956 (earthing / safety aspects)
  • Hazardous and Other Waste (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016
  • Wages Act, Equal Remuneration Act, EPF Act, Gratuity Act and workers’ compensation insurance norms (as applicable to project sites).
  • Hands-on experience in: toolbox talks, risk assessments (JSA/JHA), work-at-height safety, lifting operations and contractor safety management.
  • Ability to work across multiple sites, influence subcontractors and coordinate with structural consultants, HR and project teams.
  • Good documentation and reporting skills; comfort with checklists, audit reports and compliance trackers.
