Raw Material Manager

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Raw Material Department Manager to oversee the planning, procurement, logistics, and quality control of raw materials for our steel manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will ensure the timely and cost-effective supply of high-quality raw materials in alignment with production requirements and company standards. Key Responsibilities: Procurement Planning: Develop and implement procurement strategies for raw materials such as iron ore, coal, limestone, scrap, and ferroalloys. Evaluate and select suppliers based on price, quality, reliability, and delivery speed. Negotiate contracts and manage long-term supplier relationships. Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels and maintain optimal inventory to ensure uninterrupted production. Minimize excess and obsolete stock while avoiding shortages. Utilize ERP systems for tracking and planning. Quality Assurance: Ensure all incoming materials meet defined technical specifications and quality standards. Coordinate with the quality control department for material testing and certification. Handle non-conforming materials with suppliers. Logistics & Supply Chain Coordination: Manage the transportation and logistics of raw materials, including port handling, rail, and road transport. Ensure timely delivery to plant sites. Optimize freight costs and route planning. Budgeting & Cost Control: Prepare and manage departmental budgets. Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategic sourcing initiatives. Compliance & Documentation: Ensure adherence to environmental, safety, and regulatory norms. Maintain accurate records of all procurement transactions, contracts, and quality reports. Cross-functional Collaboration: Coordinate with Production, Quality, Finance, and other departments to align material availability with production schedules.
