Freelance Quantitative Researcher – ORB Strategy Decoding & Optimization (NIFTY & SENSEX Options)




Project Overview:


We are looking for a freelance quantitative researcher with deep expertise in intraday systems and breakout logic to help decode and optimize an existing Opening Range Breakout (ORB)–based strategy used in NIFTY and SENSEX index options.


The full live bot setup (Python/Tradetron-based) is already available.

Your task is to mathematically reverse-engineer the system, identify the key parameters that make it robust, and enhance it into a net-green, high-accuracy framework.



Objectives:


The mission is to decode the complete quantitative behavior of the ORB strategy and identify the top-performing configurations that consistently produce intraday profits with minimal drawdowns.


You will help us:

1. Backtest & optimize key parameters:

• Identify top 15–20 high-accuracy ORB windows (5m, 10m, 15m, 20m, 25m, 30m, 45m, 1h).

• Fine-tune buffer points, confirmation candles, and waiting times.

• Evaluate different strike price selections (₹35–₹60 options).

2. Quantify risk and edge:

• Optimize stop-loss, target, and trailing-stop systems.

• Assess the impact of profit-lock, trail-target, and day-level SL models.

3. Filter accuracy improvement:

• Validate performance of RSI, ADX, VWAP, and volatility filters.

• Map institutional entry and exit timings to correlate with ORB success.

4. Data-driven backtesting:

• Conduct backtests using historical NIFTY & SENSEX option and spot data.

• Deliver quantitative reports ranking all configurations by:

• Accuracy %

• Win/Loss ratio

• Average P&L

• Drawdown & consistency metrics



Skills Required:

• Proven experience in quantitative research / algo trading.

• Expertise in Python (Pandas, NumPy, Backtrader, Zipline, or similar).

• Strong understanding of intraday momentum & breakout models.

• Familiarity with options data and volatility-driven price action.

• Ability to perform multi-parameter optimization and interpret backtest outputs.



Deliverables:

• Fully decoded logic of the ORB system (NIFTY & SENSEX).

• Ranked list of top-performing ORB windows (15–20).

• Optimized values for SL, Target, Buffer, Trail & Entry filters.

• Backtest & accuracy report (with charts, metrics, and trade logs).

• A ready-to-implement optimized strategy document.
