Managerial:

Knowledge :

In-depth knowledge of automobiles, their sub- systems and functions of important parts such as suspension, exhaust, fuel system, coolant circuit, .etc

Knowledge of manufacturing processes in engine assembly, press line, weld line, paint line, final assembly, etc

In-depth knowledge of quality initiatives, quality cost, quality systems.

In-depth knowledge of APQP, PPAP, SPC, PFMEA, Control Plan, Kaizen, MSA, 7QC tools / PY etc

Basic clarity of financial/commercial effect of production methods

Knowledge of quality concepts suchasISO/TS16949standardSixSigma, JIT, TQM, Kaizen, 5-S.

Technological :

Capability to use Microsoft office, Intranet and internet/SAP.

Appreciation for use of technology to improve output &performance.

Key Responsibility

System Implementation

  • Maintain and continually improve IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and OEM-specific quality systems.
    • Lead internal audits, MRM (Management Review Meetings), and certification renewals.

Product & Process Quality

  • Implement and maintain control plans, inspection standards, and quality alerts for critical operations (welding, forming, and assembly).
    • Monitor and reduce in-house rejections and customer complaints through data-driven problem solving.

Advanced Quality Planning

  • Manage APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC as per customer timelines for new part development.
    • Interface with OEMs for part approvals and audit readiness.

Team & Training

  • Train quality inspectors and operators on welding quality, GD&T, tolerances, and measurement techniques.
    • Develop competency matrix and cross-functional quality awareness.

Supplier Quality Audit

  • Guide for formulating Supplier Audit Plans, SOPs, and formats needed to conduct the audit.
    • Review and approve quality plans submitted by vendors. • Provide guidance in conducting Root Cause Analysis for non-conformance, out-of-specification, and failure investigations. • Approve and recommend corrective actions and Implementation Plans for Corrective and Preventive Analysis for vendors.

Quality Control

  • Approve the planning of product testing activities throughout production cycles.
    • Provide guidance in conducting Root Cause Analysis for non-conformance, out-of-specification, and failure investigations. • Approve and recommend corrective actions and Implementation Plans for Corrective and Preventive Analysis for vendors.

Quality System Audits

  • Review and approve quality documentation necessary for regulatory submissions, inspections, and audits.
    • Ensure that processes needed for the quality management system are established, implemented, and maintained. • Lead quality initiatives viz. ISO, TQM. • Ensure quality initiatives do not remain just programs/initiatives but become a way of life. • Investigate and resolve any disciplinary or employee relations issues to ensure smooth operations. • Ensure the team is motivated, guided, and mentored, thereby creating a healthy working culture. Ensure adequate communication for the same.

Safety

  • Ensure compliance to Safety Policy, use of appropriate tools and accessories.
    • Highlight safety issues, irrespective of seniority, department, or tenure.

Business Plan

  • Understand Annual Business Plan and goals and targets of your function.

Budget & Cost Control

  • Use optimally, monitor, and control the functional budget for the year. Adhere to policies to control cost.

Reports & MIS

  • Capture data your role is responsible for, in defined formats. Ensure accuracy and timeframes of each report.
    • Understand the figures and their impact, analyze same and propose corrective actions wherever needed. Ensure communication of same to team.

    • Use communication platforms for professional improvements and for contributing in organizations improvement.

  • Understand Quality Policy and adhere to it in every area of work.
    • Highlight quality issues, irrespective of seniority, department, or tenure.
