About the Role

The Tester / QA Engineer is a mission- critical role responsible for ensuring that every software

product delivered through the Academy, Digital Agency, and Labs is reliable, secure, performant,

user-friendly, and compliant with SDLC quality standards.

This role requires deep understanding of QA processes, test design techniques, regression strategy,

API validation, mobile testing, performance testing, and collaboration with multi-disciplinary

engineering teams. You will work closely with Front-End Lead, Back-End Lead, BA, PM, and Design

teams to ensure defects are identified early, documented clearly, and resolved before release.

This is a pure testing and quality-engineering role — not a teaching role.

Key Responsibilities

1. Test Planning & Strategy

 Develop comprehensive test plans covering:

o Functional testing

o Integration testing

o Regression testing

o System testing

o UAT support

o Smoke & sanity checks

 Define test scope, entry/exit criteria, and risk-based prioritisation.

 Convert BRD/FRS/User Stories into test scenarios and acceptance cases.

2. Manual Testing Execution (Web + Mobile)

 Perform rigorous testing for:

o React Web applications

o React Native mobile applications (Android/iOS)

o Django REST APIs

 Validate:

o UI/UX alignment (based on Figma)

o Navigation flows

o State behaviours

o Responsiveness and layout integrity

o Error messages, edge cases, negative scenarios

 Use browser DevTools, mobile emulators/simulators, and device testing.

3. API Testing & Contract Validation

 Use Postman / Newman to test:

o Endpoints

o Auth flows (JWT/Token)

o Error codes & messages

o Pagination

o Latency & performance

 Validate Swagger/OpenAPI documentation.

 Ensure backend–frontend alignment of request/response structures.

4. Defect Tracking & SDLC Governance

 Log defects with clear reproduction steps, screenshots, recordings.

 Manage defect lifecycle:

o New → In Progress → Re-test → Closed

 Collaborate with developers and BA to clarify issues.

 Use:

o Jira

o ClickUp

o GitHub Issues (where applicable)

 Participate in sprint ceremonies to ensure QA readiness.

5. Performance, Load & Security Testing (Awareness + Execution)

 Use JMeter or Locust for API load/performance tests.

 Validate backend under simulated concurrency.

 Basic security validation:

o Input sanitization

o CORS/CSRF checks

o Authentication/authorization handling

o OWASP Top 10 awareness

6. Automation Awareness

(Execution optional; awareness required)

 Understand automation frameworks such as:

o Selenium WebDriver

o PyTest

o Appium (for mobile)

 Create simple automation-ready test cases for handoff.

 Contribute to CI/CD testing pipelines (GitHub Actions awareness).

7. Documentation & Reporting

 Maintain:

o RTM (Requirements Traceability Matrix)

o Test plans & test cases

o Defect summary reports

o Release readiness reports

 Provide weekly QA status updates to PM.

8. Cross-Functional Collaboration

 Work closely with:

o Front-End Lead (UI behavior, component logic)

o Back-End Lead (API behaviors, performance patterns)

o UX/UI Designer (visual QA, accessibility)

o PM (sprint alignment)

o BA (requirement mapping)

 Ensure QA gating before deployment.

 5–10+ years experience in QA/testing roles.

 Strong experience testing web & mobile applications.

 Solid understanding of API testing and backend validation.

 Familiarity with performance testing & automation fundamentals.

 Excellent defect documentation and communication skills.

 Ability to collaborate across multiple engineering streams.

 High attention to detail and user empathy.
