Job Description

Job Summary:

The Quality Control Trainee is responsible for supporting the quality assurance activities, ensuring products meet required standards throughout the production process. This role involves conducting quality inspections, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations, managing documentation, and working closely with production teams to maintain product quality. The trainee will also learn and assist in the implementation of quality control processes, audits, and certifications within the food production environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Control Inspections:

  • Conduct daily inspections of raw materials, in-process production, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Monitor hygiene policies and ensure the production team follows hygiene practices throughout the process.
  • Verify pre-processing steps such as sieving, deshelling, and testa removal.
  • Perform gluten tests for each batch of refined wheat flour/maida and check cooking temperatures.
  • Ensure the core and cooling temperatures of products are within specified ranges before packing.
  • Conduct sensory evaluations, physical measurements, and visual checks to confirm product specifications.
  • Perform random sampling on a daily production basis and assist in developing quality control processes.

Cleaning & Sanitation Control:

  • Ensure the plant and premises maintain proper hygiene, collaborating with the housekeeping team.
  • Raise staff awareness of Good Hygiene Practices (GHP).
  • Monitor housekeeping and chemical storage records for compliance.

Documentation and Record Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate records of quality control inspections and activities.
  • Assist in preparing and updating product specifications, quality manuals, and standard operating procedures.

Compliance with Regulations:

  • Stay informed on food safety regulations and ensure the production processes adhere to relevant standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, and ISO certifications like ISO 22000:2018, FSSAI.

Supplier Quality Management:

  • Support collaboration with procurement and production teams to address quality issues and evaluate suppliers.
  • Assist in audits of supplier facilities and ensure supplier compliance with safety and quality standards.

Auditing and Certifications:

  • Learn to conduct internal and external audits and ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Support the team in meeting ISO, FSSAI, and HACCP certification standards.
  • Work towards certifications like FOSTAC and ISO 22000 Internal Auditor.

Training and Communication:

  • Assist in training the production staff on quality standards and best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams to address quality concerns and implement corrective actions.

Customer Complaint Resolution:

  • Support the team in investigating customer complaints related to product quality and assist in corrective action implementation.

Team Management:

  • Work alongside the team to evaluate production, sanitation, and storage processes following guidelines.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.
  • Assist in upgrading the company’s food safety standards and help implement changes for different markets.
  • Work towards implementing an in-house laboratory as per guidelines.

Key Result Areas (KRIs):

  • Timely and accurate completion of quality control inspections and documentation.
  • Adherence to food safety regulations and standards.
  • Improvement of product quality through continuous evaluation and improvement.
  • Effective resolution of customer complaints and implementation of corrective actions.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Inspection Accuracy: ≥ 95% of inspections and sampling completed with accurate results.
  • Regulatory Compliance: 100% adherence to GMP, HACCP, FSSAI, and ISO standards.
  • Training Completion: Successful completion of relevant certifications like FOSTAC, ISO 22000 Internal Auditor.
  • Customer Complaint Resolution: ≥ 90% of complaints addressed within a specified time frame.
  • Process Improvement: Implement at least two continuous improvement initiatives per quarter.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Quality Control, or related field.
  • Experience: Freshers or up to 1-year experience in a quality control or food production environment preferred.
  • Skills Required:
  • Basic knowledge of quality control processes and food safety regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and quality control documentation tools.
  • Willingness to learn and pursue professional certifications (e.g., HACCP, ISO 22000, FOSTAC).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From ₹13,000.00 per month
