Purchase Executive – Mechanical & Engineering Procurement

We are a growing engineering and machinery manufacturing company engaged in the design and manufacture of food, dairy, pharmaceutical, chemical, and industrial processing equipment. Our operations involve heavy fabrication, precision components, and export-oriented machinery manufacturing.

Job Location

Kolkata, West Bengal
(Factory & Head Office based role)

Experience Required

3–7 years in engineering / mechanical purchase
Experience in machinery manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial equipment is mandatory

Qualification

• Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
• Strong practical exposure to fabrication materials and bought-out items

Key Responsibilities Engineering & Raw Material Procurement

• Procure steel plates, sheets, pipes, tubes, angles, channels, flats, SS 304 / 316, alloy steel
• Purchase motors, gearboxes, bearings, couplings, pumps, valves, fasteners, electrical bought-outs
• Vendor sourcing for machining, fabrication, surface treatment, and job work

Drawing-Based Purchase (Critical Requirement)

• Read and understand AutoCAD mechanical drawings
• Extract BOM / material specifications from drawings
• Calculate material quantities, grades, thickness, and sizes accurately
• Coordinate with design & production teams for clarifications

Vendor Management & Cost Control

• Identify, develop, and negotiate with reliable vendors
• Obtain competitive quotations, prepare comparative statements
• Finalize suppliers based on quality, price, delivery, and reliability
• Maintain long-term vendor relationships

Purchase Process & Documentation

• Issue Purchase Orders (POs) with correct technical specifications
• Follow up for timely delivery and coordinate with stores & production
• Ensure compliance with company purchase procedures
• Maintain purchase records, vendor database, and MIS reports

Inventory & Coordination

• Monitor raw material and bought-out inventory levels
• Coordinate with production planning to avoid shortages or excess stock
• Support cost optimization and material standardization initiatives

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of mechanical materials & engineering components
• Ability to read and interpret AutoCAD drawings
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills
• Commercial understanding of taxes, freight, payment terms
• Familiarity with ERP / Excel / MIS reporting
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and process-driven
