Estimating Engineer helps in estimating the cost of the project after research and
gathering all the relevant details about the project. An estimating engineer helps the
company in giving high level services and ensures right pricing to the customer for
securing future business and customer retention.
1. To actively participate in the management of various tenders / inquires.
2. Making Pre-Qualification documents, both standards as well project specific
questionnaires during vendor registration or at any time.
3. Follow the checklist for Enquires, PO available in Server.
4. Maintaining and update enquiry register regularly.
5. Receive and review the enquiry with check list and supporting documents like MTO,
Project specification etc., and find for missing data if any.
6. Send request to client / sales team for getting the missing data.
7. Propose alternatives to the Customer through Sales team / client in order to
optimize the offerings to the Customer.
8. Preparation of detailed estimation sheet highlighting all possible Costs.
9. Send request to Design team for special drawings based on requirement.
10.Check on Raw material availability, cost and lead time from Purchase team.
11.Floating Enquiries to sub-suppliers / Manufacturers.
12.Comparison Studies based on suppliers Quotations.
13.Negotiations with suppliers on both technical and commercial aspects of product.
14.Discuss with Operations team for Manufacturing Possibilities, associated costs and
lead time.
15.To share and discuss with Operations team on delivery requirement from
Customer.
16.Upon receipt of all the above details, start preparing estimation and arrive the final
cost for the specified project.
17.Discuss the Estimated price and share risk assessment with Sales Head for final
approval.
18.If any comments, revise the estimation and resend for approval.
19.Upon receipt of approval, prepare the final quote and submit to client.
20.Continuously look for avenues to reduce the cost to the Customer.
21.Upon receipt of PO, Prepare GAD, QAP etc and send to client for approval.
22.Upon receipt of approval from client, prepare ORF and release to OL team for order
processing.
23.Follow up with client for updates and pending details until final clearance received.
24.Maintaining ISO documentation, Record Keeping, Suppliers/Manufacturers
Data Bank records.
25.If required, travel to client place and arrange a meeting with client and clarify all
pending points.
26.Coordinate with all other departments for execution and dispatch of the goods in
correct time without any delay/discrepancies.
1. Should have experience on AutoCAD. It is a mandatory requirement.
2. Good communication skills with the ability to form and maintain good
relationships internally and externally
3. Good interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills
4. Commercially and financially aware
5. Strong analytical skills
6. Strong technical mindset and able to read and interpret technical data and
translate to others
7. Highly numerate with the ability to research, assemble manage and manipulate
numerical information
8. Knowledge of estimating techniques
9. Results orientated and organized with the ability to deliver against deadlines
10.Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills
11.Project management skills
Minimum 3-12 Years in any manufacturing or fabrication industry in
estimation / sales / design (optional)
Should know how to use Excel and AutoCAD efficiently. Understanding of
engineering drawings. Should be able to work on government portals and software.
