Job Description

Project Engineer


Key Responsibilities

1. Device Development & Prototyping

  • Assist in design and assembly of

    sensor arrays

    , electrodes, and signal acquisition modules.
  • Integrate hardware with

    embedded microcontrollers

    , wireless modules, and power management systems.
  • Work with 3D-printed or molded enclosures, headgear/face-mounted form factors.

2. Signal Acquisition & Experimentation

  • Conduct

    data collection

    sessions from participants under controlled protocols.
  • Maintain lab setups, electrode placement configurations, and documentation.

3. Signal Processing & Algorithm Support

  • Implement basic

    filtering, artifact removal

    , and feature extraction (e.g., RMS, MAV, ZC, AR coefficients).
  • Support ML/AI team in preparing datasets for

    desirable classification

    .
  • Run baseline models (SVM, CNN, LSTM, etc.) when needed.

4. Embedded Systems & Firmware

  • Develop firmware for data streaming, real-time acquisition, BLE/Wi-Fi communication.
  • Ensure low-latency signal capture for near real-time silent speech interpretation.

5. Testing, Validation & Documentation

  • Perform bench-testing of sensor modules and prototype boards.
  • Conduct performance validation: SNR, signal stability, electrode-skin impedance.
  • Maintain clear technical documentation, reports, and test logs.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • B.Tech/M.Tech in

    Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, Instrumentation, Robotics, or related field

    .
  • Experience with

    biopotential signal acquisition

    (EMG/EEG/ECG).
  • Hands-on experience with

    embedded systems

    : Arduino/STM32/ESP32/NRF52.
  • Proficiency in

    MATLAB/Python

    for signal analysis.
  • Basic understanding of

    machine learning

    workflow for classification or regression tasks.
  • Experience with

    analog front-end circuits

    (filters, instrumentation amplifiers) is a plus.


Preferred/Bonus Skills

  • Experience working on

    wearable biosignal devices

    .
  • Knowledge of

    materials

    , adhesives, or skin–sensor interface design.
  • Familiarity with

    TensorFlow/PyTorch

    for building prototype speech/gesture models.
  • Prior project experience in

    HCI, silent speech interfaces, assistive tech

    , or

    neural interfaces

  • Interest in rapid prototyping, UI development, or device miniaturization.


Soft Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and debugging ability.
