Position Title: Professor in Law

Department: Faculty of Law

Location: Rama University, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Job Summary:

Rama University, Kanpur, seeks an eminent academician for the position of Professor in Law. The successful candidate will be a distinguished scholar and educator with a proven track record in teaching, research, and leadership in legal education. The role involves leading advanced academic programs, driving high-impact research, mentoring faculty and students, and contributing to the university’s mission of fostering excellence in legal studies and societal impact. The Professor will play a pivotal role in NAAC accreditation, quality assurance, and institutional development, ensuring alignment with the Bar Council of India (BCI) and UGC standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and Academic Leadership

    :
  • Design, deliver, and evaluate advanced undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Law, including LL.B., LL.M., and integrated programs, ensuring compliance with BCI and UGC standards.
  • Develop innovative curricula that incorporate contemporary legal issues, such as constitutional law, international law, human rights, cyber law, or intellectual property law.
  • Employ modern pedagogical methods, including moot courts, case studies, and ICT-enabled tools, to enhance student learning and practical skills.
  • Supervise LL.M. dissertations and Ph.D. research, guiding students toward impactful legal scholarship.
  • Mentor students in moot court competitions, legal aid clinics, internships, and career development.
  • Research and Innovation

    :
  • Lead high-impact research in Law, resulting in publications in UGC-CARE listed, Scopus-indexed, or other high-impact peer-reviewed journals and books.
  • Secure and manage research grants from national and international funding agencies (e.g., ICSSR, Ministry of Law and Justice, or international bodies).
  • Guide Ph.D. scholars and foster a research-oriented environment within the Faculty of Law.
  • Contribute to policy development, legal reforms, or consultancy projects in collaboration with government, NGOs, or legal organizations.
  • Present research at national and international conferences to enhance the university’s academic reputation.
  • Institutional Leadership and Governance

    :
  • Provide strategic leadership in the Faculty of Law, including curriculum design, program accreditation, and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Actively participate in NAAC/IQAC activities, contributing to the Self-Study Report (SSR), Annual Quality Assurance Report (AQAR), and BCI compliance.
  • Serve on university-level committees, such as Academic Council, Board of Studies, or Research Committee, to shape institutional policies.
  • Organize national/international seminars, workshops, and conferences to promote legal education and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Mentor assistant and associate professors, fostering their professional growth in teaching and research.
  • Community and Professional Engagement

    :
  • Lead legal aid clinics, community outreach programs, and extension activities to promote access to justice and societal impact.
  • Represent Rama University in national and international legal forums, bar associations, or academic networks to enhance its visibility.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in academic and administrative practices, aligning with Government of India and BCI norms.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Requirements

    :
  • Ph.D. in Law from a recognized university, as per UGC norms.
  • Master’s degree (LL.M.) in Law with at least 55% marks (or equivalent CGPA) from a recognized institution.
  • LL.B. degree with a strong academic record.
  • NET/SLET/SET qualification or exemption as per UGC regulations is preferred.
  • Experience

    :
  • Minimum of 10 years of teaching and/or research experience in an academic/research position, with at least 5 years as an Associate Professor or equivalent at a reputed institution.
  • A distinguished record of research with at least 10-15 publications in UGC-CARE listed, Scopus-indexed, or other high-impact peer-reviewed journals, books, or monographs.
  • Proven experience in guiding Ph.D. students, with at least 2-3 successful Ph.D. completions as primary supervisor.
  • Experience in securing research grants, consultancy projects, or legal policy contributions is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated leadership in academic administration, curriculum development, or accreditation processes (e.g., NAAC, BCI).
  • Technical and Professional Skills

    :
  • Expertise in one or more areas of Law, such as Constitutional Law, International Law, Human Rights, Environmental Law, Cyber Law, Intellectual Property Law, or Corporate Law.
  • Familiarity with legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, Manupatra, SCC Online) and ICT platforms for teaching and research.
  • Experience in organizing moot courts, legal aid clinics, or internships to bridge academic and practical legal education.
  • Leadership and Soft Skills

    :
  • Exceptional leadership and organizational skills to manage academic, research, and administrative responsibilities.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills for teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with legal professionals.
  • Strong commitment to fostering an inclusive, innovative, and research-driven academic environment.
  • Ability to inspire students, faculty, and staff toward academic and professional excellence.
