Job Description

The Professor & Head of Department (HOD) for Management provides academic leadership, drives teaching excellence, facilitates research outcomes, oversees curriculum development, and ensures efficient administrative functioning of the department. The role requires strong leadership, industry engagement, and a commitment to academic quality and institutional growth.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Academic Leadership

  • Lead the Management Department’s academic strategy, ensuring alignment with institutional vision and industry trends.
  • Oversee curriculum design, review, and updates as per NEP guidelines and accreditation bodies (NBA, NAAC, AICTE/UGC).
  • Ensure high-quality teaching, learning, and evaluation processes.
  • Mentor faculty members in pedagogical improvements and professional development.

B. Teaching & Research

  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate management courses as per workload norms.
  • Guide PhD/doctoral scholars and supervise student research projects.
  • Publish high-quality research papers in reputed indexed journals (Scopus/ABDC/UGC CARE).
  • Lead and participate in funded research projects, consultancy, and industry collaborations.

C. Administration & Department Management

  • Plan departmental activities including academic calendars, timetables, examinations, and events.
  • Manage faculty recruitment, performance appraisal, workload allocation, and leave approvals.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare departmental budgets and oversee resource allocation.

D. Student Mentorship & Development

  • Promote student engagement, innovation, internships, and placement readiness.
  • Resolve academic and disciplinary issues within the department.
  • Encourage participation in competitions, conferences, clubs, and entrepreneurship initiatives.

E. Industry & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Establish strong linkages with industry, corporates, alumni, and professional bodies.
  • Facilitate guest lectures, industrial visits, MoUs, internships, and placement opportunities.
  • Represent the department in meetings, committees, and external forums.

3. Required Qualifications & Experience

  • PhD in Management or related specialization from a recognized university.
  • Minimum 10–15 years of teaching experience, including research and academic administration (as per UGC/AICTE norms).
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals; proven guidance of PhD/PG students.
  • Experience in handling accreditation, curriculum development, and academic audits.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and teamwork abilities.
