Open Seva is an open-source organization dedicated to empowering micro and small businesses by providing modern digital tools at no cost. By offering services such as free website development, AI chat assistants, branding kits, and technical support, Open Seva enables businesses to grow, connect with customers, and build their brands. Adhering to principles of privacy-first, simplicity, and open-source innovation, the organization ensures accessible solutions that require no technical expertise. Powered by volunteers and community contributions, Open Seva remains committed to facilitating digital growth and fostering community-driven collaboration for underserved businesses.
The Director is responsible for leading Open Seva’s mission, translating the Lucky You philosophy into scalable programs that build awareness, thinking ability, and responsible decision-making among youth and communities.
· Full-time, hands-on leadership role
· Location: Mumbai
· Nature of work: Work from the office
· Reports to the NGO Founder/SGB
· The role will require extensive travel and outdoor work
· Provide strategic and operational leadership for Open Seva
· Design, implement, and scale Vidya Dānam–based education and life-skills programs
· Build, manage, and mentor teams, trainers, and volunteers
· Ensure strong governance, financial discipline, and statutory compliance
· Develop partnerships with institutions, donors, and CSR stakeholders
· Represent Open Seva publicly with credibility and clarity
Note- No funding or Investment responsibility for 2 years at least. See note below
· Since it is a new venture in the NGO space, the core focus of the Director must be only on building the organization, operations, and growth. The financing and funding role must be handled by the Founder and Trustees. The Director must be given full funds to execute projects as planned, for at least 3 years. Since it is an NGO, there are multiple issues related to funding, the IT Act, the Charities Commissioner, etc. If the Director is also going to manage all this bureaucracy and do funding, then the initial work of setting up the venture will be severely compromised
· Initial Investment and operational funding will have to be arranged by the NGO founder and the SGB and will not be the responsibility or outcome of the Director. She/he will only be responsible for generating revenues from book sales and other commercial activities, based on mutually agreed goals with the NGO Founder/Trustees.
· Since it is an NGO, 100% cash profit may not be achievable. The founder has to support with grants and donations received from third parties
· Once the NGO matures and the concept is seen as viable, a formal fundraising role can be added to Directors role, maybe after year 2.
✓Strong people leadership and execution skills
✓Good skills in Event organization and mobilization of participants
✓Good marketing and business management skills, including an understanding of P&L
· Experience leading NGOs, education initiatives, or mission-driven organisations
· Alignment with values-based education and social transformation
· High emotional maturity, integrity, and accountability
