Product Risk Specialist

Role Overview: As part of the UK Corporate Banking team at Barclays, your role involves providing effective Risk oversight for the new product risk approval process, with a focus on credit risk. You will collaborate closely with other second line of defence areas such as Operational Risk, Legal, and Compliance. Additionally, you will work with Front Office and Global risk teams to achieve Barclays" commercial objectives while managing within risk appetite and parameters. Key Responsibilities: - Overall accountability to the UK Corporate Banking Chief Risk Officer for executing responsibilities related to new product approvals and ongoing product reviews. - Conduct effective Risk oversight of the product risk approval process, including independent checks and challenges. - Participate as a key member in product risk committees, empowered to make decisions. - Identify areas for strengthening controls and processes within Barclays Policies and Standards. - Oversee the product and services pipeline, providing early-stage discussions and feedback on key risk areas. - Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure alignment on risk appetite and address any challenges. - Conduct credit risk review for annual and ad hoc product reviews. Qualifications Required: - Strong experience in controls and governance with a background in implementing change. - Awareness of legislation and regulatory requirements impacting the Bank and customers. - Sound understanding of investment banking products and relevant legal documentation.
