- Excellent communication skills, CATIA V5/V6, 3DExperiance, Teamcenter Visualization Mock-up, DFMEA, Six Sigma, Agile or Scrum and Microsoft Project, Power Point, Excel, Word etc.
- The Lead Engineer will be responsible for leadership of the sub system engineers and is responsible for deliverables for all aspects of defined component(s) / system(s) within the Exteriors Domain.
- Proven project management capability demonstrated by recent delivery in line with time, cost, quality & attribute targets.
- Proven and extensive experience in right first-time development and integration of at least one of the following Underbody (e.g. Aero trays, Wheel arch liners, Heatshields, Active Vanes / shutters, Upstream duct, Brake duct, Secondary Bulkhead, NVH pads, ADL, Metal brackets)
- Detailed Engineering knowledge of design, function, performance, production & manufacturing requirements.
- Ability to manage and challenge system, sub-system and component costs through utilization of engineering knowledge and decision-making process.
- Excellent communication skills, with demonstrable ability of communicating with cross functional teams and influencing at all levels.
- Evidence of leading commodity delivery and co-ordination of Manufacturing, CAE & Validation Teams.
- PC Literacy: Microsoft Project, Power Point, Excel, Word etc.
- CAD Literacy: Ability to generate CAD data and Master sections in CATIA V5/V6. Teamcenter experience is necessary.
- Significant experience in the use of engineering tools - FMEA, Agile or Scrum (Six Sigma will be an added advantage)
- Successful history of multi vehicle delivery within the automotive sector.
- Knowledge of change control, product definition and change management processes will also prove invaluable
- This position is responsible for establishing, planning and running engineering sub system meetings to ensure appropriate cross functional representation and input from all relevant areas.
- Insure progression of design maturity from initial concept through to Engineering Sign-Off and design gateways.
- Establishing and maintaining the teamwork plan aligned to vehicle program.
- Ensure system, sub-system and components meet cost and weight targets.
- Ensure Regulatory compliance of system, sub-system and components.
- Define appropriate engineering targets to meet function, quality and attribute requirements for the Vehicle Program.
- Develop and maintain the design validation plan (DVP) including both in-house and supplier testing plan and ensure development signoff tests are completed on schedule.
- Troubleshoot and resolve all Validation issues.
- Develop System Design Specifications incorporating engineering standards, test procedures and material specifications.
- Lead Failure Mode Avoidance activities including DFMEA, quality history reviews and DFA/DFM reviews.
- Ensuring all relevant documentation meets ISO & quality standards.
- Lead the resolution of design, attribute or packaging incompatibilities through the appropriate cross-functional meetings.
- Management of Supplier (s) to ensure system/component delivery to vehicle program timing and attribute targets.
- Support Purchasing team in Sourcing and RFQ activities including the creation of ESOWs, CAD SOWs, PDSs and ESIs.
- Support vehicles launch and pre-production builds (both virtual and physical).
- Ensuring the effective application of APQP to manage system/component delivery.
