Deputy Manager Procurement will be responsible for overseeing the sourcing, purchasing, and management of fruit supplies for the company. This role involves negotiating contracts, building and maintaining farmer relationships, and managing the procurement budget to ensure cost-effective purchasing while maintaining high standards. This role requires the person to be flexible with operating out of Mandis & on field, identifying sourcing pockets, forging long-term relationships with the farming community thereby enabling procurement of multiple categories of fruits. He will act as a bridge line between the company & the farmers acting as the key problem solver in case of disputes/discrepancies.
● Strategic Sourcing:
○ Develop and implement effective sourcing strategies for fruits.
○ Identify and assess potential farmers and manage farmer relationships to ensure reliability and quality.
○ Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to achieve the best value for the company.
● Procurement Management:
○ Oversee the purchasing process, from order placement to delivery, ensuring timely and efficient procurement of fruits.
○ Manage the procurement budget, track expenditures, and ensure cost-effectiveness.
○ Monitor market trends, demand, and supply conditions to make informed purchasing decisions.
● Team Leadership:
○ Lead and mentor the procurement team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
○ Set performance objectives, conduct regular reviews, and provide feedback.
● Stakeholder Management:
○ Proactively engage with External (Farmers) & Internal Stakeholders (Supply)
Chain/Category/Demand teams) ensuring effective coordination & communication.
○ Act as an Enabler to ensure seamless flow of operations at the business sites.
○ Play a pivotal role in resolving issues & conflicts in line with business objectives.
● Market Intelligence:
○ Identify sourcing pockets & analyze the market trends, competitor behavior & business potential.
○ Devise & implement strategies to attract & onboard new suppliers on the platform.
○ Understand the sourcing dynamics of the area.
○ Build & operate market intelligence channels required for effective sourcing.
● Educational Qualification of ABM Agriculture or Horticulture from reputed colleges.
● At least 6 months to 2 years of field experience in sourcing Agri-commodities, preferably Fruits & Vegetables.
● Exposure to working in 2/3 commodities & multi locations will be preferred
● Should be willing to be on ground, work closely with farmers & open to travel across.
● It should be well networked in the Agri World (Input/Output).
● Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
