- Curriculum Management: Oversee the effective implementation of the CBSE curriculum and instructional programs, ensuring quality teaching, inter-subject coordination, and alignment with modern pedagogical practices.
- Academic Planning: Plan the year's academic work, establish clear learning goals for students and teachers, and monitor student progress through data analysis and assessment.
- Instructional Supervision: Supervise classroom teaching, provide constructive feedback to teachers, and arrange for remedial/special instructions for students needing additional support.
- Professional Development: Lead staff development, encourage teacher initiative for professional growth, and ensure participation in relevant in-service education programs as required by CBSE.
B. Administrative and Operational Management
- Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all rules, regulations, and directions issued by the CBSE, the State Government, and the School Management Committee, especially concerning affiliation, examinations, and safety standards.
- Financial Management: Act as the Drawing and Disbursing Officer (where applicable), manage the school budget, oversee fee realization, proper utilization of funds (including Pupils' Fund), and ensure accurate maintenance of school accounts and records.
- Staff Management: Lead the recruitment, induction, appraisal, and disciplinary action for all teaching and non-teaching staff. Allocate duties and teaching load fairly and efficiently.
- Infrastructure & Safety: Be responsible for the maintenance and cleanliness of the school facility, equipment, and resources. Establish comprehensive safety protocols and conduct regular emergency drills.
C. School Culture and Stakeholder Engagement
- School Climate: Establish and maintain a positive, inclusive, and disciplined school climate that promotes high ethical standards, mutual respect, and academic responsibility for all members.
- Discipline and Welfare: Oversee effective discipline and attendance systems. Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all students, including arrangements for medical examinations and special needs identification.
- Community Relations: Serve as the primary liaison between the school, parents, and the wider community. Communicate regularly on school performance, address concerns, and foster cooperative relationships.
- Role Model: Display the highest level of ethical and professional behavior, acting as a role model for students and staff.
2. Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
A. Essential Qualifications (as per CBSE Norms)
- Education: A Master's Degree (Post Graduate) from a recognized University.
- Teaching Degree: A teaching degree or diploma, such as a B.Ed. or its equivalent.
B. Experience
- Minimum 5 to 10 years of experience in a leadership or administrative role in a recognized high school/higher secondary school, along with significant teaching experience.
- Specific experience requirements are governed by CBSE Affiliation By-Laws, such as a minimum number of years as Vice-Principal or PGT (Post Graduate Teacher).
