Role & Responsibilities of Principal (Junior School)


Reporting: The position reports to the Director-Principal.


Major responsibilities of a Principal (Junior School): (Accountability & Ownership Expected)

 In-Charge of the Junior school

 Academic Administration of the section

 Teaching English as a PRT

 Personal supervision of the Teaching-Learning process.

 Communication with Parents, Teachers & Students and resolution of concerns

 Team- building and work culture

 Training of teachers in coordination with R&D Team


Administration of the section- (In-Charge of the Junior school)

 Supervising the work of HM & Coordinators.

 Maintaining & further strengthening the existing systems.

 Annual planning/calendar/time table of the Junior school with the approval of the

Director-Principal.

 Supervise and evaluate day-to-day operations.

 Develop creative and responsive approaches to teaching and learning.

 Ensuring support to teachers to face challenges.

 Exhibit and express high expectations.

 Assess, organize and execute flexible curriculum and effective assessment framework as

per the latest CBSE norms based on NEP 2020 & NCF-21.

 Plan, support and assess individual’s and team’s work to ensure task delegation.

 Ensure a reasonable teacher-school work balance.

 Sustain teacher-performance management effective systems and incorporate teachers’

appraisals with the approval of the Director-Principal.

 Take necessary steps to address issues of teachers’ attrition in her wing, whenever

required seek guidance from the Academic Advisor & the Director-Principal

*Any other responsibility delegated by the Director-Principal in the interest of the school.


Personal supervision of the Teaching-Learning process

The Principal should supervise the methods in teaching and the curriculum.


 Preparation of the section- timetable.

 Checking weekly lesson plans, anecdotal records, attendance registers, stock registers etc.

regularly.

 Conducting school and Board examinations & taking responsibility of Results along with the

Team.

 Note-book audit to be done regularly and the report to be submitted to the Director-

Principal.

 Class- Observation file to be maintained and submitted weekly to the Director-Principal.

 Entire responsibility of teaching-learning process & results.

 Checking of report cards and class teacher’s remarks.

 Accountability of section-discipline (Staff & Students).

 Hold staff meetings to review the work done during the month and assess the progress of

the pupils.

 Supervise classroom teaching.

 To take daily report from the HM Junior school.

 Supervising ‘Prabhat’, ‘Aashayein’ & ‘Bhartiyam’ of junior school in coordination with Co-

Scholastic Coordinator.

 Preparing & sending Daily Report to the Director-Principal.

 Help and guide teachers to promote their professional growth through encouraging their

participation in courses designed for in-service training and development. This should be

done in consultation with R&D Team & under the guidance of the Academic Advisor.

 Supervising ‘Leader in Me’ programme with the help of the team& LIM

Coordinator/Lighthouse Teachers.

 Communicate and reinforce school values, beliefs and objectives frequently to teachers,

students and parents

 To keep safety-checks on priority to ensure safety & security of students & teachers under

the guidance of Safety –Head of the school.


Communication with Parents, Teachers & Students:


 Replies & responses (queries, mails, calls) on immediate basis

 Earnest effort to have direct and clear communication and to avoid communication gap at

every level

 Arranging PTMs along with HM & Coordinators (online/offline)

 Providing solutions to the parents & resolve their academic and non-academic

issues/concerns.


Team- building and Work Culture:

(To believe in all decisions conveyed / instructions given to the team and take complete accountability

of the same)

 To create bonding and resolve interpersonal issues

 To keep the team motivated

 Healthy interpersonal relationship among team members

 To emphasize on school ethos, dress code & appropriate behaviour

 To resolve issues related to work-environment

 To maintain visibility towards work-ethics
