Job Title: Principal Engineer - Water Job Description: The Principal Engineer - Water is responsible for leading water engineering projects and providing technical expertise in the design, analysis, and execution of water-related infrastructure systems. This role involves overseeing a team of engineers and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure that projects comply with regulations, are completed on time, and meet budgetary requirements. The Principal Engineer will also engage in strategic planning, project management, and mentoring junior engineers. Key Responsibilities: - Lead and manage water resources engineering projects, including water supply, distribution, treatment, and wastewater systems. - Develop and implement engineering designs and models for water projects, utilizing advanced software tools. - Conduct feasibility studies, assessments, and analyses of water systems to determine optimal solutions. - Ensure projects adhere to local, state, and federal regulations, and maintain high standards of quality and safety. - Collaborate with clients, contractors, and governmental agencies to achieve project objectives. - Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff. - Prepare and present technical reports, proposals, and presentations to stakeholders. - Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in water engineering. Required Skills: - Extensive knowledge of water resources engineering principles and practices. - Strong project management and leadership skills. - Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. - Proficiency in using engineering software tools and modeling programs such as AutoCAD, EPANET, HEC-RAS, or similar. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. - Familiarity with environmental regulations and permitting processes related to water projects. Required Tools: - Engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D). - Hydrological modeling tools (e.g., HEC-RAS, SWMM). - GIS software for spatial analysis and project planning (e.g., ArcGIS). - Project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera). - Calculating tools and databases for data analysis and reporting. Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering; Master’s degree preferred. - Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required. - Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in water resources engineering or related field. This position demands a proactive leader with a strong technical foundation, excellent project management skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality water engineering solutions.
