The PostgreSQL Database Developer will hold a crucial position in our organization, responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of our PostgreSQL database systems. Leveraging proficiency in

AWS RDS, Linux, and DevOps principles,

the candidate will ensure optimal availability, security, and scalability of our database infrastructure. Collaborating closely with cross- functional teams, the role involves supporting application development, implementing automation, and streamlining database operations to foster efficient and innovative solutions.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Responsible for design, create, and maintain PostgreSQL database structures and schemas
Participate in application development projects and be responsible for the database architecture and design
Develop efficient and optimized SQL queries to support application requirements
Perform routine data maintenance tasks and handle database migrations
Monitoring database performance to identify slowdowns or potential issues
Building high-scalable clusters, failover and hot standby solutions
Implement backup and recovery processes and expertise in BARMAN tool
Deploy and manage PostgreSQL databases using AWS RDS services
Configure and optimize RDS instances for high availability and scalability
Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies on AWS
Manage Linux-based servers hosting PostgreSQL databases
Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues and system-related challenges
Collaborate with DevOps teams to implement automated deployment and monitoring processes
Utilize tools like Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines to enhance efficiency and reliability
Monitor database performance metrics and proactively optimize query execution
Identify and resolve bottlenecks to ensure peak database performance

Required Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Minimum of 5+ years' experience in Database Developer role, and have a strong working knowledge of PostgreSQL
Knowledge of JSON and PostgreSQL support for JSON
Ability to work well with development and infrastructure teams in doing database design changes and enhancement to new and existing applications
Working Knowledge of connection poolers (like pgBouncer)
Expert Level SQL, PL/pgSQL, including stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views
Proven experience as a Database Programmer with expertise in PostgreSQL
Knowledge of database design principles, query optimization, index management, integrity checks, statistics, query optimization techniques and isolation levels
Strong understanding of AWS RDS services and hands-on experience with managing PostgreSQL databases on AWS
Proficiency in Linux server administration and troubleshooting
Familiarity with DevOps principles and experience with deployment automation and monitoring tools
Understands Javascript, perl, Jquery and CSS web development is a big plus
Strong written and verbal communication along with proven fluency of English
Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and communicate effectively
Problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to database-related challenges
